Alexander McQueen Menswear S/S 2022 London

Stunning. At least she still put some effort in her menswear unlike her women. Everything is so sharp and well made, I can do without the logo tank top.

I want to wear everything. Especially that white coat.

Uninspiring. As a fan of Sarah Burton, it is disheartening to see such stagnancy. I love her tailoring, truly one of the best in fashion at the moment, though there is hardly anything to point to that is new and worthwhile. From a construction standpoint the collection is quite amazing. The ruffles work and I give credit for placing them in a manner that is both exciting and flattering, but beyond that it is quite boring and expected. She shouldn’t have to reinvent the wheel, but at least bring some imagination to the table.

Not expecting imagination from Sarah, frankly. Just bring your solid bespoke talent to the suitings and coats with that subtle sly sense of the maverick that can only be revealed upon close inspection that’s always defined McQueen menswear. The silliness of cut-and-paste feminine flourishes are so beneath McQueen’s legacy.

Sarah is better than this. The ruffled full-length tee-dress is the unimaginative offerings of a lesser :cough JW Anderson:cough: MCQueen the man was from the highest standards alongside Yohji/Rei/Gaultier whom all reworked classic feminine wears with traditional masculine wears to such fresh and visionary inspiration. This here is a 13yo boy just wearing mum's dress. So basic… And drags the spirit of McQueen down.

Just when you thought Saint Laurent's platform boots and tangerine taffetta cape weren't enough, here comes another collection serving more of the 'costume department' fashion that nobody needs and wanted and that doesn't help to define McQueen men's as anything else than a lazy by-product of the womenswear - On top of that, all these gaudy pieces would look just as dumb on a woman as they do on a man.
