Alexander McQueen Menswear S/S 2024 Paris

No offense there to anyone who expressed their dissatisfaction over McQueen menswear's fit, but I feel that it's perhaps for the better we don't see the open backs, mid-section cutouts, etc. that have found their way from the womenswear into McQueen's menswear in recent years (that other designers like Peter Do, GmbH or Dion Lee are also pushing strongly) all that often on real people.

As much as I can enjoy Timothee Chalamet wearing more out-there men's fashion (he had often worn McQueen besides his pal Haider Ackermann's custom looks), I would consider that an exception from the rule and it would give a whole other expression if those kind of clothes - tight and revealing - were to hug (rather than hang from) a very muscular body.

I get that it's part of our zeitgeist, of constantly seeing very pumped body shapes for both men and women and it having become 'de rigeur' for everyone to put thirst traps out there on Instagram, that we've come normalized to putting it all out there. For such risk-y fashion propositions, I think this often crosses the thin boundary between the sensual and sexual.

certainly didn't expect thefashionspot forums to house a thriving bodybuilding community.
Hahah, well I started on here around 20 years ago in my teens when I was thin, but have sense bulked up a lot. The old me would have looked good in this, but now I would look like a fashion victim. It’s a case for dressing in what you like, but dressing more for your body.

On an inside, I’m entering the fashion world as a designer and I love the slight absurdity of being a bodybuilder and designing womenswear. I have a friend that is also a bodybuilder and is the lead shoe designer for a brand. It’s funny. The fashion world is dangerous so … lol :boxer::rofl:

Everytime I hear about bodybuilding and fashion I think about a lot of Parisian dudes who wore Saint Laurent under Hedi…It was so uncomfortable to watch them squeezed into those skinny jeans and boots and the leather jackets. I guess they took the biggest sizes…

‘I mean there’s Tom Ford and Margiela for muscles guy.

‘My husband is rather athletic and fit McQueen but he looks like a teenager in their recent printed suits compared to the ones from the early 2010´s that were more « classic in cut I feel…Which is weird because Hamish Bowles looks fabulous in McQueen menswear.

For the muscled guys, I suppose there's always Rick Owens :)

I did a quick check on the Alexander McQueen website... the prices startled me. The tailoring is beautiful, but I'm not sure if the label is buzzy enough to command those prices.
