Great work from Lee, as expected!!!
I noticed the slight retrospective-like images in some of the pieces ..especially the corseted top-skin piece and the asian influence on the "kings" pieces that just by adding them those koi (fish) prints look fab!!!!
I like the presentation and I see a lot of very marketable pieces .. I can't say its my fave collection from Lee... but he sure delivers!!!! The color palette is just a dream!!! And the presentation is flawless .. I need to go and see more detailed pictures of this to see his fierce cuttting skills!!!!

I am going to be a dissenting voice here and say that I don't like this collection at all. Some of the ideas are nice-I think the headpiece on Gemma was incredible, but as for the clothes, there is nothing I would want. I have never found McQueen's clothes to be that wearable and some of them look like they should come with a how-to-wear guide. I also detest thigh-high boots and don't think they look good on anyone.

i think he has a very strong and steady hand, i was surprised by some of the volume in the skirts and the change in form as the girls turned sideways, the bustles and such. i also very much agree with the comment that he needs couture, it may diffuse and change some of the ideas for ready-to-wear so that they um...are a bit easier to swallow.

that being said, he had some great pieces in his window in new york that actually had a good sized crowd gathered this afternoon, including that wonderful embroidered coat from his menswear collection...

The chess game and the soundtrack seemed like a brilliant idea, but I can't say the same about the clothes. My fave is still his FW02 Burgendy collection followed by his They Shoot Horses, Don't They dance spectacular from SS04. I have warmed up to FW03 and FW04, but so far I'm not too high on SS05.

As for his "experiments," I don't think many of them will be archive-worthy. I don't like any of the swirl-Kimono stuff and that village on Gemma's head is a gimmick more than a true artistic expression (is it hand-made by him?).

aww that merry go round dress is adorable; i didn't feel the hats were out of place, it was appropriate for the theme of the show. I know he's worked more than a few times with philip treacy on the hats, they have a strong connection through Isabella Blow, who helped the both of them early on in their development. I'm hoping he makes that sucker made to order because i plan on buying it, i think it's just beautiful and funny and collectable

Wow, who would have thought of making a chess game on a runway.... I like the whole concept. Some of the cloths are simply out of this world though very interesting.

I liked the school girl part. That dress on Daria is also stunning.

And I am pretty sure "The village on Gemma's head" is placed on with a thick plastic or whatever thick fabric headband. I can't imagine them sticking that whole thing on a wig or Gemma's hair. Btwn, it is SO gorgeous. I love the attention for detail.... the birds Though I am almost sure the designer didn't make that thing out by himself.

The village that is on gemma's head is nothing too spectacular. You can find them in any chinese gift shop. They are usually contained in glass boxes. They just got some and took them out and placed it on her head.

maybe, but it's the idea that counts, and Lee is full of them. In retrospect it's so easy to say, "Oh it's so simple" - but to come up with it is a different matter .

I agree with faust on that, many of the things he's done in his career are things that, while they seem totally simplistic once they're done, they've never actually been done before. I mean, has any other designer had robotic arms spray paint a dress, or sent models through a wind tunnel, or, in this case, painted Asian inspired images onto football padding?

They're not really difficult things to do, but thinking of them before anyone else has is a totally different story.
