Alexander Wang Taps Steven Klein, Malgosia Bela for Fall

LUMINOUS FALL: Alexander Wang is reuniting with the team from his spring advertising campaign for fall. Photographer Steven Klein and model Malgosia Bela are back, and so is the campaign’s stark palette. The new black-and-white images, which were shot at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, show a model in profile, Bela, gripping a railing against a backdrop of bright studio spotlights. Asked to describe the new campaign’s direction, Wang said, “We wanted something cinematic but in the sense that it was more behind the scenes, catching the off moments of luminous victory.”

Styling the shoot was a newcomer to Wang’s advertising, the Vogue magazine contributing editor Camilla Nickerson. The campaign will break in the fall issues of several magazines, including Love and CR Fashion Book.

Love you Malgosia but we need a new model on board.

^ I agree. Malgosia is a bore and so is this campaign. Yawn, next.

Am I the only one who loves this shot? The lights and the rail give me a dark, stage feel ala Black Swan. Very cinematic.

Alexander Wang: Stop with this Malgosia-Monster campaigns!

(and if you stop designing that would be great too)

Cinematic will be the most overused term for Wang's campaigns. If they didn't purposely make Malgosia look hideous, which is almost impossible, it might click with me.

This is breathtaking. Although he's been overdoing the lack of color, this works out perfectly. I love the cinematic quality.

It reminds me so much of that Bat for Lashes video for that song Laura (which is beautiful) with the cross-dressed ballet dancers... It's kind of cinematic, yes, but it doesn't really look good. I think it'll look better with the logo, because right now I only see the backdrop - couldn't care less about the clothes.

If you have to try this hard and fail then maybe he shouldn't even do a campaign.

I actually really like this, maybe Malgosia doesn't look her best, but the picture is very powerful and cinematic.

I think the campaign is shaping up well!

Malgosia may not look her prettiest but since when are boxers in the ring supposed to be that way?
