All About Internships and Work Experience Placements

Vogue Italia

Does anyone know a contact I can email about applying for an internship postition with Vogue Italia? Even a person who works with the magazine would be fantastic. I would love to apply for an internship with them but am having trouble finding contact information.

Thanks for all of your help!!!

Yes, I have taken 3 years in college and studied in Milan last summer. I currently have a fashion PR internship in NYC.

JSeip welcome to tFS!

I'm pretty sure Vogue Italia have an office/contact in New York, probably in the Time Square building. I know Vogue China/Taiwan/Japan/etc all have a 'go-to' person in New York. I'm not sure how, but see if you can find that contact as a starting point? Or read the masthead of Vogue Italia and see if you can work out how they structure their email addresses :p eg [email protected] (that's how US Conde Nast does it), or [email protected], etc, or it could be mentioned elsewhere in the magazine.

Or, call them up to ask!

Good luck!

ETA:
I did some Googling and it looks like their email formats are:
[email protected]
eg Jane Smith would be
[email protected]
So look through the masthead and start emailing people!
:)

For people who are trying to get internships... I have one story which might help:

I sent emails to various people and publications in hope of scoring an informational interview about them and what they do (NOT a job interview) and one of them responded (she was a previous Fashion Editor at a famous Fashion Magazine) and so i met up with her asked her questions about her job etc. and towards the end of the interview she offered me a position as her intern.

- Sometimes the best internships you can score are just out of pure luck!

it's quite hard to get an internship or work experience in the UK if your under 18 as the company's insurance doesn't cover you (on the odd occasion it covers people under 18 but its very rare)

I'm 16 and had no problem finding work experience in the UK! I'm going to Mulberry in 2 weeks. :)

After sending in my resume, cover letter, recommendations etc, I landed an interview with boston fashion designer. (she is actually the one in the picture for the upcoming designers to watch thing on the home page a few days ago) and I need some tips on WHAT TO WEAR because i'm going to be working on a photoshoot.

I guess rather than just talking, they want me to put my money where my mouth is...but any tips on what to wear and what to expect or to be prepared for would be great.

There are 2 threads about what to wear ... one about going on interviews, here .... and one about actually working as an intern, here. In fact, there are a few more about what to wear ... if you are interested, just do an advanced search, asking for thread titles and search the C&E forum, keyword "wear" .... and they will all come up. Lots of good infor there ... and if your question is still not answered, post your question in the most appropriate thread.

Event Planning internship from am American global company:

My Boss told me that I will travel abroad with the team to go on-site the (one night) event. How long am I going for do you think? A few days?

Also will they pay for accommodation/travel arrangements? Do you think I will stay in a nice hotel?

The only way to know is to ask them.

But my guess ... and it's just a guess ... is if they need you there they will pay your expenses ... but put you in a roomate situation at an economy hotel for only the minimum time they need you there, possibly only one night, and limit how much money you may spend on food. Unless the event is in a posh hotel ... then the hotel might provide free accomodations to the comany's staff ... in which case you would stay there. If they don't provide travel, hotel and food, I probably would decline ... an intern is not getting paid as it is ... she can't expected to pay our of her own pocket to work for these people.

I had a quick question. As I begin my college career this upcoming fall, I will be majoring in International Business and Finance. I am already thinking about places I could possibly intern. So my question is, do fashion oriented companies take interns that are interested in the financial side? I plan on sending out formanl emails to a few companies next week, but I just wanted to ask here first.

This may be a stupid question but im really unsure on all this. I just wanted to ask if internships in the US are paid at all ? Is there a thread on Tfs about jobs in fashion ? I am studying fashion here in Australia and am interested in moving over to the states to look for work after I graduate. I am interested in menswear moreso than womens. I guess this is just an enquiry of sorts to see if its do-able or worth etc. If anyone could help with information or direct me to a thread it would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to tFS, spectre!

Internships in the US are usually not paid. You are probably seeking an entry level job.

I'm going off topic (internships) for just a moment to direct you to some of the appropriate threads about fashion jobs and careers and related info ... then off you go into this exciting forum about careers.

Now is the time for you to look into a work visa if you have not done so already, if you intend to do paid work in the U.S. It's complex and a challenge for most ... so you'll need time to work on that. Here's a link the the U.S. Citezenship & Immigartion Services ... where you can learn more about being allowed to work in the U.S. ... either permantley or as a student ... there are links to various types of authorization ... a bit convoluted to find every thing you'll need to know, but then, that's kind of how our gov't usually is.

We have a thread in this forum (Careers & Education), pinned at the top for networking for people in fashion, but it rarely lists real paid jobs (mostly internships), but keep an eye on it when you are ready to make a serious move.

If you are interested in the various types of careers you might find in fashion ... there's a thread about finding the right fashion career, which can start you off. Then ... most of those careers have a thread ... use the advanced search (thread about how to do that here) to find each one to learn more about the particulars. And there's a small thread about fashion websites ... which list career opportunities. Not everything is in the U.S. ... since we have members from all over the world here at tFS.

Hope this gets you started on your research. :flower:
