For nearly 14 years, Ana Beatriz Barros (30) began writing a history of success and recognition on the catwalks of the world. Proud of its history, top celebrates the beginning of another chapter of his life, whose plot, as well as professional maturity, has increased the conquest of a new love. "I live my best moment. I'm more in love than ever and I know I met the man of my life, I had never experienced a feeling so strong, so connection " , she explains, referring to the boyfriend, the Egyptian entrepreneur Karim El Chiaty (28), who is eight months ago. "Never trade my 20 for 30 years by the time I brought the certainty that love my job and do the right thing" , Ana amendment, asked the 13th season FACES / Snow, in the Argentine Patagonia. And the same time seems to be the ally of the top, which attaches to the achievements of the present difficulties in the past. "I entered the world of fashion with only 14 years old and soon went to live in New York. At first, my father was against it, but my mother supported me. It was all very confusing, I'm scared, and several times thought of giving up career " , recalls the mining, now secure in his footsteps. "I started to work hard and realize it was a good profession, that would give me opportunity to meet various countries, and have contact with different cultures. Now, I know I have a solid career and I feel proud to have overcome the odds " , she attests, based in NY.
- What difficulties have you faced early in his career?
- My father was supercontra and was devastated. I am a mining family, very traditional, so he thought I should be a lawyer, doctor, do something more stable. At that time, the fashion market was not very developed in Brazil and people had no notion that it was a serious job, a profession. My mother had researched a lot about the career and supported me. They gave me three years for me to hit the profession and, in that period did not work, I go back to study and follow other paths. There was still the barrier of English, I do not totally dominated.
- And now, as his father sees his choice of profession?
- He is supertranquilo and proud of her daughter! He saw that I struggled to get where I am and always supports me. My mother, I believe my guardian angel, if not she would not be here. She always accompanied me in testing and I was the only model with the mother around. The girls looked at me like I was an ET (laughs), the gringo do not have that family relationship that we Brazilians have. They are not even so attached.
- Are you connected with the family. Building is in your plans?
- I want to marry Karim, the man of my life, my soulmate. I also want children. But to become pregnant, must first leave the runway, after all, the education I had, could not be traveling the world to work and leave the children alone.
- But think about retiring?
- For now, no. But my idea is to open a business, perhaps a brand of clothing, something related to fashion, is a market that I understand and domino.
- A modeling career today is not as short as before. What has changed?
- Before we had no computer effects, retouching and older models were branded as old. Today, for example, as a 14 year old girl going to campaign for a cream for woman of 40? People want to see an image that matches what is offered, they want someone their age.
- When leaving the runway plans to return to live in Brazil?
- I love my country and want to go back, yes. When I'm out, I miss the food and the warmth of the people. Karim also loves Brazil, is passionate about cheese and even bread is already talking a little bit of Portuguese. The only problem, it is London based. But I'm going to convince him to move!
- How did you meet?
- In a bar, through a mutual friend. The first time we met, did not give much attention. That same week, fate has made us to meet three times in different places and times. It was quite a coincidence! Then he asked for my phone and it all started. I am a woman very lucky to have him beside me.
- In the beginning they had problems with cultural difference?
- I was a little scared, yes, at first, after all, he comes from an Arab culture. However, he is half Muslim, half Christian, then, is a modern Arabic. I kept thinking: will they put me in a burqa? But Karim is a contemporary person, respects the rights of women, supports my work and is not jealous. And to complete, his mother is Greek.
- What do you most admire in him?
- It's generous, intelligent and educated. It's the kind of man who rises from the table when you go out and opens the car door, a gentleman, a rarity.
- And you are romantic?
- I've never been, but he moved, I'm pretty. So you can see how it moves me.
- You said that when he began his career, fashion in Brazil was restricted. How do you see today?
- I think Gisele Bundchen was essential for the growth we had. Before it, the Brazilians had a bad reputation: fattening, returning to the country because of dating and did not arrive on time. Our image has changed thanks to Gisele, she gave the touch of professional career. This is that, thereafter, there was an increase of Brazilian tops recognized throughout the world.
- What about your career, change anything?
- If I could turn back time, had started his career with 18. I advise any girl to enter the market very young. There are things that sound strange for someone so young, like a sexy photo shoot. You're still a teenager, has neither chest. I think it is necessary to mature and become the first woman to dive into this world. It's a cruel world, after all, is there anyone judging their personality or intelligence, is the image that counts. However, from the moment you understand this issue, that image is everything, things become easier.
