Are stars the new skulls ?

I don't have any sort of patterned clothing. I'm not likely to have any garments with any sort of design. I guess skulls are slowly dying down (fine with me!). I still don't see anything stylish or cute with these. It's just the usual sucking up to rock music or skate or Goth culture. I DO NOT do "emo" or anything like that. It's probably harder to make non-cartoonish stars fashionable as far as making dozens of five-pointed stars. I usually like sparkly stars like with my Myspace page's background. I'd prefer almost ANYTHING over skulls. Does everyone have to be and dress and be inspired by hardcore rock? Somebody needs to explain to me what makes skulls fashionable or interesting in the first place.

What about in denim? Are we going to start seeing stars on the butt pockets instead of skulls? I know the new DVB jeans have stars on the butt, whereas Victoria Beckham's old Rock & Republic line had skulls...

I love how the stars were evoked at Yves Saint Laurent, it looks surreal yet still manages to look classy.

Chanel on the other hand....:innocent:

i don't know about this. it looks cheap. i think it's hard for repetitive prints to look classy, and i almost always associate these kinds of prints with.. hipsters/emos and overtly trendy try hard kids..

i really dont like this. it looks cheap and childish. But the small white stars over the dark blue kinda worked.

Here's the thing. Stars can be tough to pull off. I'm more into realistic stars than the traditional five-point stars. Stars can either be just as bad as skulls or just plain tacky. It's tough to get stars (especially the five-point stars) done right. A proper balance would be stars that spread across (and I'm talking about garments, not accessories) without being too large. Almost like polka dots, only replaced with stars. I have an Asian friend who wore these earrings with small green stars hanging. Something like that for garments would be just fine. As long as the stars aren't overly massive, I'm very much okay with the design. Stars can still be every bit of rocker chic as skulls, only that we aren't preaching death or evil with stars as opposed with skulls and crossbones.

Ive never liked stars because all Ive ever seen them on are hoodies, tees & tanks but Im really liking the way they are showing them in some of the runway shows. Im hoping H&M comes out with a nice silk blouse or dress with stars.

I thought of something. I have a friend from Paris that is here in Houston. Her tote is a "Pirates of the Carribbean" handbag with a skull and crossbones look. Perhaps the skulls have been popular from this movie. Maybe my understanding of skulls in recent times was a little mistaken. I can't think of any star influences that has triggered this love of stars. Think about it like this- the country Western deal was made with stuff like the recent "Dukes of Hazard" movie back in 2005 or so. There is perhaps some correlation between the country Western deal and the resulting fashion. This is just something I thought about in regards to skulls and why they've been popular outside of rock culture.

Perhaps I'm so sick of skulls that I WANT stars to take over and get these blasted skulls out of sight. Any of you ever thought of these skull designs the same way I've thought about their popularity?

I wonder how long it will be before these start showing up in stores. I havent seen anything yet other then horrible tees, tanks & hoodies. I would like to see more in blouses, dresses & skirts like Chanel.

^^ well i take it your not in the uk .. they are everywere and i mean everywere from asda to primark every price range and type of shop has them .. they are massive here now !!

Nope Im in the US & theres nothing other than hoodies, tees & tanks which I really dont want. Maybe they will be here by spring... hoping. I want a Chanel like silk blouse.
