Well, for REAL STREET STYLE in Buenos Aires (not Susana anymore..), here's a picture taken by me, at Buenos Aires Fashion Week. She was a photographer. My camera is pretty bad, so you can't appreciate the shine of her sequin shirt, that was gorgeous!

At first you'll think that is great , atfer being a while here you'll realize everyone has the same style and the word "effortless" will vanish to become "trying hard"

Yes Argentina has a great style but not close to Parisian, still there's lack of elegant fashion style, of course there are some with amazing style but counted

I blame it in the lack of international designer stores

One thing that I do admire regarding their style is actually the lack of big clothing chains, especially high-end stores, even though there's Zara and local stores that people basically devour, it's still very far from being the place where you walk into the subway or a bar and you can spot head-to-toe H&M, or that Forever21/UO skirt everyone bought and combined just like the model in the ad.. people here consciously or unconsciously tend to have a bit more individualism in the way they dress because they have not been exposed to true consumerism like we do in the north.. not saying that they like it this way, I've spotted a number of girls that look like they'd rob an entire American Apparel store if they only had one and not just follow it via internet, but I like that there's still a bit of a struggle in the creation of your look, whether it is your own idea or not, at least the garments keep some kind of identity.
Hope that makes sense, it's still early for me.

but i feel young portenos dont dress up to their full potential. great looking people+cool local designers+beautiful city = amazing potential. still, no matter how european the city is, porteno streetstyle has a lot of catching up to do with new york, paris, london, amsterdam, stockholm,etc.
also i think the market in BsAs is big enough to have local designers coexist with international ones. personally i think the arrival of AA in Argentina wouldnt hurt.

I agree with all of your three points of view.
mademoiselle makes a great point. Since i was born here, i don't think i'll ever say 'oh yes, argentineans have a great style'. I see people everyday that to me have a good sense of style, but it's the minority compared to the rest.
I do agree with Boluda too. There's a lot of potential and resources for people to use in their own ways, but somehow it doesn't translate to what i see everyday.
Unlike MulletProof said, there're girls that the minute you see them, you can tell what brand they're wearing, or what kind of brands they would wear, but i guess that's because i live here. But like she said, it could be a lot worse.

Overall i just feel that there's people who doesn't really care about what they wear and buy whatever they see in a store; others who do care but buy whatever they like combining stuff in the most unexpected ways (that's not in a good way) without considering their body-type; and the ones who care and just try way too hard. But like everywhere else, there's a good number of people who 'do things right' and that's who you're gonna see on Argentina street style blogs or magazines.

in my opinion, i see buenos aires as a place where people don't get formally dressed up anymore. everything is so casual and the people who take risks with their clothes are VERY few.. we are missing a little bit of originality, and the funny part is that it is a city full of inspiration!

I must agree with solg, i cannot say i like the way argentinians dress. Maybe its because i live here... but i think its because dont matter how "european" we are, if you take risks with clothing, everybody will look up to you (in a bad way).. that's what i see everyday, specially here in La Plata, i know its not Buenos Aires but...
And most important... you need A LOT of money to buy nice clothes/shoes/bags here.

More often that I wish for, I find clothes in men´s stores that I truly love. But their cut is meant for men so I can´t buy any

IMO the real problem with argentine style is the prices.
In other countries you have nice and cheap stores like Gap or H&M where you can buy basic stuff, splurge on designer stuff (it´s not even that expensive) and then mix and match. But in BA, everything is expensive! Cheap stores like C&A are not even worth the time and money, their quality is awful. Local brand´s prices are ridiculous and the quality of some of them is not even great. The same goes with local designers, they charge the same and sometimes more than big international labels.
Then we have to consider salaries, basic salaries in -say- Germany are around 2000 euros so people can afford to buy a 300 euros pair of shoes every once in a while. But in Argentina a decent salary is what? 2500 pesos? 675 dollars? who can afford an international label shoe or bag? considering that the prices in dollars here are almost double than in the US or Europe (and we only have a few internationals labels to begin with...). How could it be than local designer´s clothes are almost the same as an international label?
People dress the best they can with the money they have, we can´t expect parisian style in BA.
My solution? buy a fabric and go to a seamstress. You´ll have unique clothes at affordable prices.

Disagree, I'm not from Ar but lived enough in BA to analize
it has nothing to do with money people here always buy clothes, stores are full (compared to some other stores in other countries) , about the local designers charging more than international ones, doubt it
People do not dress the best they can they just follow the massive trend
Black boots, brown boots, black boots, brown boots, black tights, loose clothes, scarfs after scarfs after scarfs and the hair, in 1000 girls that could be in a room the style is just the same the only thing that changes is color
like I said before, Argentina has alot of style but it's just not enough, I have seen better dressed people in Uruguay...and yes it's too casual in here
