Hey there. I'm new to TFS so I just wanted to say that this a great thread. Everyones style is so different which makes the future for American fashion so exciting! Anyway I too have my own label, Newwich and we will be launching in the Spring. Keep an eye out for some great neckties/bow ties. Look forward to posting images of the ties when there finished!

thinkin about growing

hey guys, i have been reading these posts for a while cuz i was thinking of also starting a collection. its great too see other young desingers making their own clothes and it has inspired me to start my own collection. I would like to do men's wear. If you guys have any tips that can help me start up or any tips for designing i would appreciate it and hey if anybody wants to work with me to design clothes that's cool too, lets team up and make something happen.

This is just my thinking but your labels logo looks like a knock off of Armani Exchange. Just something to keep in mind.

my work

Hey guys
I started a menswear label in Cape Town, South Africa, called Dandy Savant. It’s small, we stock several stores around the country. But I'm moving to London in feb08 to get industry experience rather. Just wanted to know what you guys think of my designs. I've never studied fashion nor done any courses. My pattern making and construction is self-taught. The first time I touched a machine was in Dec06. So I’m not very good. These are samples, all of which were made by me (apart from the suit and the dj which were outsourced).
As you can imagine, intelligent opinion on such things in South Africa is few and far between. Criticism welcome

I'm just a tad confused ... you say you are stocked in stores around your country which makes it a line in production. But it sounds like maybe you are breaking out on your own and these are samples of your personal work? Or am I getting it totaly confused? Maybe this is the line from Dandy Savant that you are doing with your partner? Can you enlighten me, please?


Love your stuff, BTW ... it's modern and edgy (I know, the word is overused...) and I love the details. Seeing a bit of the 80's in there ... David Bowie Glam, Members Only jackets, parachute pants mixed with the slim lines of the late 60's ... the mods and rockers.

Cameron, I'm a big fan of menswear, mainly because I like to encorporate it into my womenwear designs, but I think that your designs are great.
