Aspiring Fashion Designers Lookbook, Post your Work. (See Post #1 before posting.)

it will be interesting to see how you do the draped designs
especially the 2nd to last ^^

For my current major 'individual' project for fashion school
Sportswear mixed with culture, I'm beading a scarf that I'm placing into inserts in the pants. My sport was motorcross/car racing enjoy ! ^^

^ Loving the look of the red parts on the top, what do you think you would you make them out of? And I really love the trousers with the sharp points.

Thank you for that ! My teacher suggested red leather, but I think it would work with any sort of thicker stiff fabric. I haven't been able to find anything suitable though.. :(

I have a little lingerie business, I have 2 ranges out and have been working on it for under a year. Here are some pics...

I am currently making my 3rd collection - all nautical red white and blue... very excited for how it all turns out!

I was thinking red-leather or red PVC

Hopelessly, your last picture, it could be the angle but the stripes dont match together at the seam. At school i get drilled into quality checking so much >< sorry

But your designs are lovely, do you supply to boutiques?

Crimson, yep I know haha, I have practised much more since then (pics are a year old now) so I am better at it now!

I always think that when I look at that picture!

I supply a few little boutiques but only very small quantities, like 1 of each size.

I am doing the new range at the moment and I am hoping now that I am getting a little more recognition and my construction skills have improved considerably that I might be able to get more stockists. Although I would really rather sell direct to customers rather than wholesaling, as the middle man gets all my profit!!

hopelessly, forgive my ignorance, but as you have your line stocked in some boutiques, do you have people manufacturing your lingerie in those few sizes or do you organise (and make) all that yourself?

I was approached recently by a woman who owns a couple of boutiques interested in stocking some of my pieces so I'm just wondering how someone would go about doing all that technical stuff.

Discussion of this nature is off topic here although the question is very valid and important. Please take it to PM's at this point or start a new thread about production of very small orders. :flower:

However, I think that since there are lot's of aspiring designers here, I should direct anyone interested to some threads with important information for anyone who want's to have thier own line and actually produce and sell it.

Here are some threads about production, selling and delivery of your line (albeit, most of them on a much higher level) that might interest you.

Making my Samples ... Fabrics?
Selling my Line to Buyers/Boutique Owners
Stocklists / Ordering & Delivery of Stock to Boutiques/Stores.
Basics About Production and Factory Manufacturing
What Does It Really Cost To Make Those Clothes?
Cost of Production
Sourcing Production & Manufacturing in the East or the West?

There are dozens more ... doing a search by thread titles with lots of words related to starting, making and selling a line will bring them up.

Part of my summer project. We were asked to customise a piece of clothing to create a top to go with jeans.
The idea of basing my customisation around a vest top came about because the arm-holes echo the shape of the pockets on jeans.
It's quite rough but it gets the point across.
