so this is what you've been all busy about ^;) i like the one on the left to you

welcome to the forums, metricsam:lucky: you have a nice style.. the green jacket is especially beautiful! looks like you did something to the lining? is it a lace overlay...

The lining is pure silk. The print is a strange mixture of wood, snakeskin and some old symbols, not my usual style (I much prefer clean and simple) but I thought it fitted well with the green velvet.

Need Your Critics

First I would love to say thanks for your opinions before I have not been on fashion spot for quite some time but will be making a def effort now. No design school background started out reconstructing clothing in a store we opened in Fl. Ok now that thats out the way I made 3 bags recently sometimes when you think of fabrics and textures to use it may or may not work out until you actually do it. I took premium Leather sourced in NY and Bazin fabric traditional to Senegal. Also took Mudcloth what I believe is the most eco friendly fabric and made a simple collection of bags. I need some honest opinions and also price points. I sew each bag and fully line them, also zippered pocket for phone and or essentials, close with magnetic closure.... I wanna say dont be to harsh but go ahead..Hope this is correct section for this and look forward to reading responses.
Thanks one love.....

yeah the print is nice.. it's more like a texture in the photo. rust. good colour choice

Hi Gius, none of the fabrics have ramie in it. The cotton that the mudcloth or [FONT=arial,sans-serif] (Bogolafini)
is made from is actually harvested and hand loomed in Mali by women the dying is usually a process done by the men no chemical is used but a process of fermenting mud and using fruits and berries indemic to the region. The other fabric is not as eco friendly it is a waxed cotton, batik and tie dye process done on printed fabric. The result is a very colorful fabric with designs and a stiff texture. Hope that answers the questions..

i just merged rodrigo's post into here :flower: please have a look, guys and give your critiques ;) #989

well it's a very interesting technique.. the mud cloth. it would be quite popular where i used to live (west coast.. Canada..). eco-friendly products are a big trend --stores selling organic cotton bedsheets and sweaters, etc. natural-looking items. also a couple of boutiques that specialise in traditional handcrafts from various countries.
from people i know who've tried to sell their work, they do market research.. going around or doing interviews, finding out which colours are the most popular in their area and also what other people are pricing their products.

about the design of the bags, i think the rectangular black+brown purse will sell the easiest. the colours go well together. actually all the rectangular ones are quite appealing. simple
in the round bags the brown is a bit strong, like with the soft pink. where are you getting your coloured fabrics? i think the mudcloth one is the best, especially the way it looks in the bottom photo, and the worst bag might be the grey, pink and blue one. but it might depend on the lighting and your camera... really the way they look, some might be more popular in a certain kind of store and some in another (ie. green and mudcloth bag in a store selling natural products).

this is inspiring, great work everyone. I think I'm getting inspired to post pix of some pieces I made when I was attending design school. seeing very creative and passionate designers like yourselves is encouraging me to be interested in fashion again.

if you like fashion GO for it!! its a DREAM you hve to pursue!! Im sure youre good!! anyone that loves fashoin has the talent to make it work!;)

thank you Aaron for the encouragement. Yeah, when I was younger about 10 years ago, I consider pursuing fashion as my dream. Being away from it due to reasons I can't control and because of life, I really felt incomplete, as funny as it sounds : )
Now, I just feel that I really have to act on it, or I'm just gonna disappear. As strange as that may sounds
Here in Chicago, our Mayor launched a program that supports aspiring designers. Each year, for the last 2 years they choose 8 designers to mentor. I'm applying next year. Also, I really want to move to NY. And intern with a few designers. The designers I really would like to intern to are Oscar de la Renta, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, or Ralph Lauren. I know it sounds very ambitious : )
