Nice morningstar. Can I see your moodboards? I think my designs pretty much capture my mood... haha

Here are two examples of other mood boards I've done.

The two collections I posted above have their mood boards. First image in the first collection. For the presentation of the second group I collaged Tord's work on to one page so those are just examples of some the images I used).

Thank you. I actually use gouache mainly with markers, pencils and colored pencil to enhance the illustration. Students in Parsons are pretty much required to use gouache for the most part. It's the method that fashion illustrations/croquis were originally created.

Morningstar your work is beautiful <3 seriously I lovelovelove that third look hopefully soon I can show everyone some of my little sketches (Nothing much) and maybe the real things <3

Yay I found the cord to the printer so I was able to scan one of my designs I <3 it but I'm not sure if anyone else will, please give honest opinions (I dont care if you tell me it sucks ^_^ leaves me room to improve)

Ummm. Honestly, that looks like anyone else could have drawn it. Pretty normal and kiddish. No offence, just my 2c. ;)

i was hoping this would turn out better...but i couldnt be bothered again :p

some bag designs too :p

I can never get truthful critiques from my friends and family.
So anything you guys can tell me would be great. And
remember that i can't learn anything from the good things.

These aren't a collection. Just some of my favorite peices.
They arent great quality either. Sorry about that.

This one was a photocopy of my own design,
so that is why it isn't colored.

Thanks!

^^ I really like the second one from the left on the top row. The proportions seem right on both models.

The others...it seems as though their torsos are too long and their shoulders are too broad. Fashion sketches and illustrations (in my opinion) look better with small torsos, shoulders, etc. and fairly long legs.

I definitely think you're on the right track, though.

dbear I gotta say that the designs aren't exactly very new... :ninja: like we have seen these kinds of coats (and the photocopy) before. I do like them though. I think the yellow with that shade of green is an interesting colour combo, and I like the three big buttons. As for the photocopy, the change from stripe to flat is nice.
I don't really like the second illust. I would choose the browns one as the best out of the two outfits. It might be interesting to see in real life. The colours just doesn't do it for me for the outfit on the left. Finally the long yellow dress looks pretty nice too...red carpet material. The colours are neat too. Just yellow and white.

I agree with what diorcouture said about the torsos being too long... I think maybe this hurts the design. Like I would think the right outfit in the 2nd illust and the photocopy would both look great and more proportionate if the torso was shorter... the waistline higher.

I forgot to mention that these were my designs from last year so it would make sense that they would look old. :) I just don't have any of my new designs on the computer. I'm not trying to sound like I'm making excuses though.

I appriciate both of your advice and I will put it to good use! Thanks!

Wow, all of your sketches are awesome :D. Mine on the other hand......well judge for yourself:sorry if there're hard to see, the light was terrible

^^^what utensils did you use for those sketches? they are awesome. I use pencil but it doesn't look that good.

What is recommended? paint, crayons, chalk etc.....?

^^ Watercolors look THE BEST when doing fashion sketching. Pencils can look very nice, but watercolors really make it look professional.

^yes...it does make it more pro
but goauche is also nice
it really depends on how you apply it though
