I´ve just started (trying) to make fashion drawings. I'll be wanting to apply to a university in 2.5 years. So all I want is to learn how to do better. So please anyone who is a pro, help me out here.. because drawing isn't my strongest skill

ps, is it true, if you want to do 'something' in fashion, you always have to be able to draw. Because at all teh univertstiy websites i looked, they say you have to have like a drawing porfolio. But do you even have to draw if you want to be like a stylist? (sorry this is a bit off topic, but if anyone knows the answer, please

flower:^^^That kind of drawings are kind of useless...I's important to understand the clothes, how they are made, the faces does not matter, it's even better if you don't draw them...try to make some outlines in black, be a bit more concrete...If you want to draw clothes, concentrate on the ideas...

This is a design that I have done for a contest to get into the Portland Art Institute.
Please be honest! I need any advice I can get.

I thought I'd share some of my work
Childrenswear collection, prelim croquis (before they were painted)
Edits of the same collection
Inspiration for the collection was several photos of me as a child dressing like my father (exact suits). The idea of children wanting to dress like their parents, and I had a target customer with the likes of Angelina Jolie and Maddoxx, fashion savy 'city' parents dressing up their little boys in equally city chic clothes for kids.
Menswear collection. We had to design a collection based on a pre-1800 historical costume using a single fabric (i.e. all cotton, all silk, all wools)
I chose to use cotton for a spring mens collection using 12th century catholic robes mixed with american jazz as inpsiraton. I found a great post card (above 2nd image) that gave me a feeling of how I wanted the clothes to look and move.
I didn't want to put my guys in robes because I didn't think that was realistic. To make the looks more modern, I decided to combine the idea of jazz era looks, tilted hats, fitted blazers with baggier pants, with the religious robes lightness, folds and embroideries

I wanted to keep the folds/draping feel of the religious robes, so I decided to make the tops out of knit cotton, slim sillouhette and cut longer so they would bunch up. The bottoms would be wider cut pants made out of light fabrics to give the soft, drapey feeling of robes.
Look 1 - Sheer cotton jersey embroidered shirt (the motif was pulled from a robe in a picture I found of a statue in the 12 century), scoop neck cotton jersey sweater, high waisted cotton polin dress pants and sandals
Look 2 - Black cotton jersey mid length tee, Cotton jersey scarf, Cotton Polin wide leg pant with braided cotton ties at the ankles
Look 3 - Black Cotton Shirting button up with jewelled motif collar closure, cotton jersey 'overcoat' with cotton shirting cuffs, light denim shorts
Look 4 - White Cotton Shirting sleeveless button up with jewelled neckclosure, scoop neck cotton jersey tank, leather cumberbun, Cotton poplin pants
Look 5 - White cotton jersey longsleeved tee with white cotton shirting cuffs and collar, gray brushed cotton trompe l'oeil waist coat, white cotton canvas pants
Look 6 - Low neck white embroidered cotton jersey top with cotton shirting cuffs, black cotton jersey cardigan with reversed buttons, light denim jeans

The top of the dress is beautiful, but I don't really like those stripes on the bottom much. Just isn't very pleasing to the eye for me...
Guys, you should concentrate on doing flat cads rather than incorporating the body. Cads are only used within industry, you should be capitalising your strengths on the garment not the appearance and diffreciation of the model!!!

Boys knitwear collection, fall. Inspiration: Where the wild things are

Look 1 - Basketweave knit cardian with Crown Embroidery (baby alpaca), Cotton Shirting button up, knit tie (with scepter tie clip), cudoroy jeans, monster socks and sneakers.
Look 2 - Cashmere monsterstripe knit beanie, Cashmere pull with Crown pattern, the infamous Monster backpack - basketweave wool body with yellow and brown leather, gold buttons and white painted teeth detail (made to resemble a monster face), denim jeans and knit ribbed 'boots'
Look 3 - Baby alpaca monster stripe sweater, gold pins (crown, scepter, boat, leaf), denim jeans and knit leather boots.
Look 4 - Double collar baby alpaca henley sweater, cudoroy pants, knit leather boots
Look 5 - Green Baby alpaca knit coat with wooden crown buttons and crown/leaf embroidery, tail chain, denim jeans and knit ribbed boot.

Drawing skills are absolutley essential aren't they? It's like a painter without a paint brush... Even if you got the image in you're head... it's useless if you can't share it with the world!
