Hey,
Does anyone go to any fashion schools here in Sydney? I'm going to FBI Fashion College. I'm starting soon, and I'm really nervous..

Anyone at University of Sydney? (help!!!)

I'm transferring to university of sydney to continue my major in spanish language and italian language electives.

I'm really scared coz I'm worried that I will find it hard to make friends. I'm shy. Also I will be moving out of my parents house for the first time and will (hopefully) be living in the women's college.

Anyone at the university of sydney and/or live at the women's college at university of sydney?

Any advice???

Hey efj, lucky you!! My sister goes to USYD and trust me, making friends there isn't hard at all..... :flower:

Yep I'm at Usyd!
If you're living in college, trust me, you'll have absolutely NO problem making friennds  Also remember there are so many people in the same boat as you and if you just talk to the person next to you in tutes or lectures, you're bound to make friends!

I will be living away from my parents for the first time! Really scared! I will be staying at the Women's College, do you know anything about it? Are the girls nice there?

Orientation Week at University of Sydney or a New University for others.

Okay, I have a question as I am REALLY shy to begin with, but I feel absolutely uncomfortable durning orientation. I already had one at my current university but I was (still am) living at home. And now I am transferring on going to live in a women's residence college at university of sydney away from my supportive family...

The thing is, I'm not just nervous about socialising with new guys, I'm also nervous on what other girls will think of me.

Also if anyone has information about university of sydney orientation and living in one of those residential colleges, do I have to go to all the events at orientation? I'm not the party type and really really nervous about socialising!!!!:ninja:

any 1 knows any school on jewelry design or any along these lines..

Whats AU like for Fashion design?

I know Fashion capitials consist of New york, London, Milan, Paris...but what is Australia like? I've always thought it was a beautiful country and when I become successful I would love to work there!!

What do you guys think?!

^^Australia, i think, is a good place for fashion, but in my own opinion, the Aus. fashion industry can be sometimes, unoriginal and even ppl who work in the fashion industry (i.e. designers, journalists, etc.) agree that magazines and designers themselves emulate things that come straight from America or somewhere else overseas and then tag it their 'own' concepts. So, I don't know... I guess it's abt how you see fashion itself and how you intepret it.
I hope that helps you:flower:

TAFE in Sydney- designers such as Lisa Ho, Akira Isagawa, Alex Perry and Nikki Zimmerman have graduated from there. I think all the fashion courses are now based in Ultimo campus though... go here for more info

Whitehouse short courses

Anybody here been to one of the short courses by the Whitehouse Institute of Design (Sydney)?? I'd love to hear your feedback, both good or bad, about whether you liked it, was it helpful, which course is better etc since I'm thinking of doing one in the july holidays.

TIA!!

Try this link to East Sydney Tafe course in Applied Fashion and Design Technology. Alex Perry, Colette Dinnigan and Akira Isogowa studied here, just to name a few! It's definatly the most industry-recognised place to get a fashion degree at the moment.

I did the fashion business course at FBI, biggest waste of time ever re.education wise, but myself and two of my friends all got jobs in fashion PR through doing work expience at our time there.
I am now doing the Diploma of Textiles, clothing and footwear at TAFE and its awesome.

hello everyone
I am looking to apply for the fashion course at UTS, any suggestions? Thanks  Joe

make sure you can draw or if you can't go and do the workshop they have before you go for the interviews. They run through how to put your portfolio together and i think some drawing techniques

Thank you so much rarasuperstar for your response, I can draw ok, so you just have to show them some of your work in the past is that right? What sort of questions do they ask in the interview and is the course at Tafe better?!

Joe
