Balenciaga S/S 2010 : Iselin, Lisanne, Mirte and Patricia by Steven Meisel

I think we're all sure this will not be on of our fav campaigns this time, like last season Jennifer Connelys :(

I really like it but I think it could have been photoshopped a lot better.

Plus, these were the dresses I liked from the collection.

I like this because it reminds me of the early Inez&Vinoodh campaigns for Balenciaga when they worked with M / M Paris. However, I do find this cut-and-paste technique very strange for Steven Meisel as he rarely works in this way. This is much more Inez&Vinoodh.

Also, the only thing that bothers me is the hair. Its too severe for the collection. They should have kept some kind of femininity in the hair to soften the look.

after such a lyrical and beautiful campaign for the fragrance, why would they create something this artificial and thoughtless for the clothing line? they could've just dressed charlotte gainsbourg in these looks and have piggy backed off that other campaign. the softness of that setting would've enhanved these clothes instead of putting them in this grey vacuum.

...:ninja:....

Seems like being the hot new thing is a free pass to do a major campaign and shoot with the world's top photographer. Iselin is the perfect model especially for the brand and I like Mirte's look but this doesn't do much for me, it doesn't seem Meiselesque like last season's ads...but in time I could like it.

I am pretty sure it works the other way around. You can do all the runway shows you want, but it won't make you a hot new thing unless you have the print jobs to back it up.

I actually find it terribly lifeless. The studio setting, their stiff, uncomfortable poses.
I still can't call it lifeless at all. Okay, maybe Patricia's pose is the a bit unnatural one, but the way it all works together makes it all up for me. For me the way it's photoshopped even makes it powerfull ( especially Mirte looks so! ). It kind of looks really cut-copy-paste, but that's what I love in this case.

i thought the campaign was absolutely fantastic.
i mean this is exactly what one expects from balenciaga, something totally unexpected. in a season when the most creative ad campaigns look like catalog outtakes, balenciaga does something that actually looks inspiring and challenging in a way. hat off!
and kudos for amazing casting - mirte is goddess in the making.

It's ok so far. Its similar to the old Sims and I&V ads which imo are the ones that represent the brand more accurately, but it's not as good...I would like to see some more layers in it, not jus the models, maybe some urban background and more dinamic poses, this photoshop looks kinda amateur.

I'm thrilled to see Iselin and I like how graphic it looks but that's about it...

Did they really have to cast a bunch of nobody's to complement Iselin? :ninja:

  I quite like Patricia, Lisanne & Mirte but let's see who of them will be in demand after all the hype is over and the next bunch of job-hungry newbies arrives infront of Meisel's lense. I don't wish any of them bad, though Patricia is gorgeous, one of the best newbies I've seen in a long time. But we know Meisel and his "reliability" to book some models just during their first season(s) (Madisyn Ritland, Katrin Thormann, Toni Garrn, Anabela Belikova, Katlin Aas....).

I'm sorry I'm happy for Patricia but I can't get over the weirdness of the layout lol.. I can't wait to see more shots though.
