I realized that one hasn't been created yet (Or if there has, please direct me to it because I have yet to see it!!) and thought that it was high time for a discussion thread. ^_^

I only got my copy today so I will most likely be avoiding it but I thought it would be fun for those who are a little bit ahead in the game to discuss, and if such members do not exist at this point in time, it can be home for discussion of potential spoilers and theories (a bit of that was posted in the Twilight thread and I think that this would be a more appropriate place for it).

Let me not waste any more discussion time, and post away!! :woot:

I'm jealous of you guys having your books already, I don't know why the dates couldnt be the same everywhere....but I already know what happens so....

Did anyone else read the spoliers? How far has everyone got? I don't want to give it all away but giving any opinions about it just yet

Well, from what I've read of the book so far (not having read the actual book) I am really, really not impressed. I'm hoping that reading the actual book will change my mind, but I doubt it. I feel like Stephenie Meyer rushed the series, like she didn't realise Twilight would be so popular, and then hurried out the next few books ending in the Epic Fail that I feel Breaking Dawn will be. I'm disappointed in some (most) of the plot lines I've read about, and character changes, and I feel like the whole thing is riddled with plotholes. Waaa /end rant.

I flipped through it in a bookstore (please, like I intend to pay money for SM's terrible writing) for the "lulz" and OH MY GOD

  is my only response. I loved the 1st book and I knew the series was on a decline but OMG

i must say that breaking dawn made me love jacob. he cracked me up so much when it was his perspective. i liked the ending but the book was just so werid, so many plots, new characters, just a whole lot of confusion really

i knew that there was gonna be alot of haters and negative responses on this book. it ruin the series for many many people. i didn't hate it but i couldn't believe stephenie wrote that

I think a lot of the negativity toward the book is because of the fast nature and wildness it seems to make you feel when reading it. But I think it's like that because it's pretty much like A Midsummers Night Dream, and whoever read that knows it's extremely weird and confusing at first. But overall, minus the Jacob section, I liked it. Though when I read the first 7 Chapters, I was confused as hell, but when I just finished I remembered that it was supposed to be a lot like AMSND. That's why it's a little wild and fast.

i loved the jacob part actually, which i thought i would never say. i love his insults and blond jokes towards rosalie, i thought that was hilarious. and i almost cried when edward called jacob "my son". i know that sounds werid but i thought the comment was really sweet.

and this chapter title-"What do I look like? The Wizard of Oz? You need a brain? You need a heart? Go Ahead. Take Mine. Take everything I have."- almost brought me to tears to. gosh I almost cried alot lol I got teard up when i read the last line on the last page.

I actually enjoy the book really much  But you know what freaking me out? Edward's and Bella's conversations like a family.... I mean
"Renesmee..."
"It's all right, love. Get dressed, and we'll be back to the house in two seconds."
"It's all about balance, love. You're so good at all of this, I don't imagine it will take too long to put everything in perspective."
"And we have all night, right?"
"Do you think I could bear to let you get dressed now if that weren't the case?"

That's so strange to read! I mean it's sounds like a part from a soup-opera

i wasn't sure about the book after reading the first 7 chapters online, but when i actually finished it, i actually enjoyed it.the crazyness made sense after it all.

^ same here, i really wanted to stop after part 1 but it got alot better. now i really love the book, i don't understand why its getting alot of hatred on amazon.com. i understand why people might not like some things but it doesn't deserve all the one stars out of five that its getting on amazon. we all got what we wanted, we got bella & edward married, jacob imprinted and is happy, charlie knows that something is up, bella and edward are together forever and none of the cullens died....

im tempted to re-read it but i think i need a break lol.

The reason why it's getting one star at Amazon is because the book sucks. Period. Meyer contradicts was she herself said, that vampires can't have babies. That's mistake n.1. Plus, Jacob imprinting on Nessie (Renesmee Carlie, WHAT KIND OF A NAME IS THAT??) is plain ridiculous. Breaking Dawn is not a book for 10 years old where there's still happy endings for everyone. Jacob imprinting on his former love's child is disturbing. And it's also very cruel how Bella, who never wanted a baby or at least never expressed a wish to have one, got pregnant while Rosalie, who always wanted to be human and have kids, just has to stand and watch.

^ meyer said vampires can't have babies. she never said they couldn't have one with a human. but i did wish she explained that more in the book, like go in depth with it because i still don't know how that is possible

Edward is still a vampire, he can't ''create'' babies by Meyer's logic. She said vampires have no fluids. What his sperm was frozen 108 years?
Another thing I hated was that when Bella became a vampire she was even more perfect than before. There you go, Mary Sue in her full glory.

^ Haha. Agreed, I felt like the last book was a dedication to Bella and Edward's "flawless" physical attributes and the general perfection of their lives.

At the end, it got to be a bit too much. Nessie was so beautiful, Bella was so beautiful, Edward is a God (way more of a God now that she has vampire vision), lalalala, no one dies in the "battle", the end.

Good god, I know the series was no Harry Potter (where the lesson was direct. In order to gain balance, there has to be sacrifice) but come on, this isn't a message that should be passed on to the younger generation.

Find a good-looking, wealthy husband, insist again and again that the only reason to stay mortal is for sex (or the only reason to go to an ivy league school), get knocked up at 18 and have everything end perfectly.

I get that this is a fantasy romance series but something with this much influence on younger kids...I honestly do not understand what went on in her head.

Although props to Meyer for the birth scene. Truly gruesome.

it isn't a children's book, and bella was never supposed to go to college anyways. that was a back up plan if edward didn't make her a vampire. and they would use college as an excuse to put off visting charlie.

^^Thanks for mentioning Harry Potter, it reminded me of something. So Bella's ''power'' is a love shield. First thing that came to my mind when I read that? Lily Potter. Not only isn't Bella an interesting character but also she had to go to steal some other's work. Next thing you know Meyer will publish a book called 'Nessie Cullen and the Volturi Stone'.

Twilight isn't a children's book? I don't believe I ever used the word "children"

I meant younger kids are in 13/14-year-olds and pre-teens (who are incidentally, in their most impressionable age), they make up a lot of Meyer's audience.

^Exactly. Her fans look up to Bella and Edward, especially to their relationship, without seeing that's actually a very abusive relationship. Plus, Meyer's fans are female, while Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse etc. are sexist books. These books aren't ''healthy'' imo. Bella is an anti-heroine. She's weak. And yet many young girls look up to her.
