Ok, let me put my 0.2 in here. i just finished the book and i would like to make some comments:
On the positive side, the plot surprised me. I was convinced i'd never see Bella and Edward married, convinced Meyer would find a way (Vulturi attack, anyone?) to stall it until the grand finale. I certainly wasn't expecting them to procreate. I remembered her comment on vampire fluids vividly (it had grossed me out), so I didn't see that coming.
On the negative side, I didn't enjoy 2/3 of the book. The corny sex scenes, equipped with the notion that marriage transforms you smoothly from inexperienced teen to vampy seductress, were laughable. The "Rosemary's baby"-style pregnancy was way too crude for Meyer's audience. And a vampire Bella defeats the purpose of the series completely. Her humanity was, IMO, the core of Edward's attraction to her. I could even enjoy her annoying blabber when she was human, because it reminded me what it meant to be a teen with a crush. But Bella, annoying AND immortal? No way.
I also didn't like how quickly Renée was written off as history.
Ok, my rant is done. Please don't shoot me. I'm just sad that this book ruined the little good i'd thought about this series.
