MrFalconer, you don't think all pop music is dance-y right now? Could you give an example of a current song that you were hoping Britney's sound would be like?

More like her last album or Blackout... dance seems to be overtaking pop at the moment though, you're right. I just find dance music very bland. Gaga or Kylie are good examples of pop. They are very upbeat and some tracks lean towards dance but stay pop.

Hmmm, I think I disagree with some of that. Blackout was VERY dance, Circus was more pop-ish. Gaga and Kylie too, are very dance.

Anyway, I hope there will be other tracks on Brit's album that appeal to you more, that way everyone's happy.

I think I have my terminologies mixed up. When I say dance, I think I mean club...
Hold It Against Me almost sounds like a club remix as appose to a mainstream pop song. When I think pop I think Toxic and If U Seek Amy.

Ooh, that makes sense. I bet it's strategic on their part to release a dance-y lead-in single (as with Womanizer, Gimme More, etc) and then go something more pop (Toxic, Circus, etc).

Yes, very true. There does seem to be some method to their madness.
This is much 'clubbier' than her previous lead singles though. I just feel like Hold It Against Me is missing a hook or something special... I can't quite put my finger on it.
Fingers crossed there's some more pop for me on the album

ANYWAY!

I can't express how glad I am! I was all excited when I discovered the news this morning. I'll go to college tomorrow, listening to the new Britney, how cool ahah
But I still don't like the beat. The best parts are the bridges : "If I said my heart was beating loud (...)" and the break at the end which are just killing.
Something you keep in mind, for sure!

I just bought the song on iTunes. I feel like I'm delighted ahah.
Hold It Against Me is already #1 in several countries....

HIAM is now No.1 in 18 countries iTunes chart, very impressive! Also it breaks Mariah Carey's record for the most spins on a songs first day by over 200 spins and is receiving rave reviews. Congrats Britney!

The song is doing AMAZINGLY WELL. I'm shocked at the amount of buzz and interest around it, just insane. It's gotta be the most accessible (and I don't mean to imply that Britney's music is some sort of mystery that only a few are able to get, just that it seems to appeal to a wide variety of people, even those who don't usually like her) of her songs because it's just exploding. I really couldn't be happier for her.
