Princess Caroline to visit SA

Princess Caroline of Monaco will be visiting South Africa during a two-week humanitarian field trip through Africa.

The princess is travelling in her capacity as the president of Amade Mondiale (World Association of Children's Friends), a non-profit child-advocacy NGO founded in 1963 by Princess Grace of Monaco.

The princess's first stop will be at Johannesburg Hospital on Sunday, where she will attend a presentation by the Smile Foundation. The project re-ceived a generous donation from Amade Mondiale, which allowed 25 children to receive reconstructive facial surgery.

Other local projects supported by the NGO include the Rainbow Creche in Masiphumelele, Cape Town, and the Madiba Schools Project.

Royal visit brings smiles to young children

Kylie Kunneke, seven, couldn't believe a real-life princess was sitting next to her. She was so overwhelmed, she could barely speak.

Then, after a few minutes, she leaned over to her mom and whispered in her ear.

HRH Princess Caroline of Hanover (nee Princess Caroline of Monaco) asked the mother what the girl had whispered.

"She wants to know if she can hug you," the mom said.

When the princess obliged, Kylie immediately snuggled up to the regal woman sitting on the bed with her. The two held each other in a mutual embrace for several minutes.

The fact that Kylie could smile through her moment of glory was the real reason the princess was at Johannesburg Hospital.........

Nelson Mandela meets Monaco's Princess Caroline in South Africa

"It is wonderful to have the princess here and she is as beautiful as ever," he said.

Holding his hand, Caroline, said it was an honor for her to be in South Africa and with Mandela.
"You are a living example of what a human being should be. If there is one thing you have taught us all, it is to care and we will try humbly to follow the high standards you have set," she said.


"The trip has been very busy. It has been an intense one but also a rich one. I have seen a lot and got a better view of how we can work with children in areas of health and education," she said.
