Ooooh I love this thread ! :D

I don't get why Olivia lied about her extensions. You're right, they are so obvious. She looks so much better without them, her hair is lovely.

Armed with a latte from Starbucks, Miley Cyrus was spotted happily hopping to the salon in Los Angeles for some new hair extensions yesterday (August 30).
After hours of sewing and glueing, the 16-year-old Disney sensation could be seen departing the salon with a head full of new hair.

Yow! Wasn't prepared for the close-up of some scalps.

Hollywood Hair Club for (Wo)Men

Remix | By SUSAN CAMPOS | April 5, 2010

On a recent Monday morning, a number of Hollywood executives were rolling calls outside the offices of Dr. Peter Goldman. One talent agent, dressed in a black Prada suit, was in the middle of negotiating a deal when the doctor’s assistant came to take him back to an examination room. As she motioned for him to follow her, the agent sputtered into his BlackBerry, “I gotta go.” This did not put an end to the conversation until he finally gritted his teeth and snarled, “I’m at Dr. Goldman’s.”
Goldman is the go-to guy for Tinseltown’s newly thinning — or, shall we say, follically challenged — A-list. His patient pool consists of actors, studio executives and music honchos who wait as long as three months to get an appointment and pay $200 a pop for the privilege. Goldman, an admitted workaholic, sees up to 50 people a day, including several big-name stars who are ushered into his office through a private entrance.
At 64, Goldman is handsome, youthful, trim and . . . bald. “It was too late for me,” said the dermatologist with a shrug as he rubbed his hand on his perfectly shaped skull. “I started losing hair in my 20s, and unfortunately we didn’t have access to these meds.”
Needless to say, this isn’t your typical hair club for men. Especially since about half of the clients are women.
On this particular morning, Goldman was donning a white lab coat as he led me to an examination room at his office suite. He was met by Sandra Ruch, a 71-year-old film consultant. Fifteen years ago she was referred to the Hollywood hair guru when a dramatic drop in estrogen caused her hair to start falling out. After exchanging pleasantries and a warm embrace, Goldman began examining her scalp (which consisted of fine, curly brown hair, but plenty of it) in the same meticulous way a mother gorilla might groom her young. Upon seeing the pleased look on the doctor’s face, the nurse immediately brought over a tray lined with five neatly placed syringes and a small aerosol can.
He sprayed a cold numbing mist on Ruch’s head while simultaneously injecting three needles into her scalp. She never flinched. “It’s acceptable for men to go bald,” said Ruch, who credits Goldman with bringing back her mane. “But losing hair for a woman is terrifying.”
“Rogaine works better on women than men,” Goldman said as he finished injecting the last two needles into the front of Ruch’s scalp. “That’s because women’s hair thins all over rather in specific patterns like men.”
Hormone blockers and anti-inflammatory meds are the main ingredients in Goldman’s cocktail. He also prescribes a topical solution that includes Rogaine and Propecia to be applied twice daily: “I found the interaction of multiple compounds has a synergetic effect.” The combination acts as a sort of fertilizer for the scalp — sprouting hair within four months to a year. But in a town that doesn’t accept a term like delayed gratification, a year can be a hard sell. “Impatience is the biggest problem I encounter,” he said with a sigh.
So Goldman does everything in his power to speed up the results — and quell his patients’ anxieties — by prescribing pills, daily serums and quarterly shots. “This isn’t a cure,” he said. “We’re controlling a situation so the hair doesn’t fall out. It’s like being on Lipitor or any other medicine, where you have to stay on it.”
Goldman will even refuse to put some patients on the regimen because they’re too far gone. (He recommends surgery in those situations.) “We can’t bring back bald, but we can bring back thinning,” he said as he headed to another of his 10 examination rooms.
His next patient was a film executive who was convinced he’d be bald (like every other man in his family) by the age of 28. With the kind of effusive praise usually reserved for an actor who can open a picture, he began gushing, “No one can believe the difference you’ve made.” Goldman, looking slightly abashed, began misting the man’s head and then quickly injected his scalp. Throughout the five-minute procedure, the patient continued chatting as if he were sitting at a dinner party. Thirteen of his friends are already part of the practice. “I was referred by an actor,” he said as he lowered his head to reveal no bald patches.
Among a Hollywood crowd of youth-obsessed Samsons and Delilahs who worry that they’ll lose their power if they lose their hair, Goldman is right up there with Johnny Depp and Barack Obama. But the man at the root of the fuss is completely unfazed.“It’s amazing,” he said. “They think I walk on water. I say, ‘Only if the lake is frozen.’ ”

Just WHERE has Naomi Campbell's hair gone? Supermodel reveals shocking bald patch on shoot

Her wild behaviour is often shocking, but Naomi Campbell caused jaws to drop for entirely different reasons today.
The supermodel left onlookers stunned as she revealed a huge bald patch beneath her long luscious wig while on a fashion shoot for designer Dennis Basso in New York.
The 40-year-old has revealed signs of a vanishing hairline before, but the true extent of the problem was put on show as she held her hair back as a stylist adjusted her clothing.
It appears that years of wearing tight hair extensions have taken a toll on the model's natural hair, causing severe breakage.
Hair loss associated with hair braiding, weaving and extensions is known as 'traction alopecia'.
Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckham and Alexandra Burke are all reported to have suffered similar symptoms as a result of their extensions.
While prolonged traction can cause permanent loss of hair in the affected areas, it is reversible if caught early.
Trichologist to the stars Philip Kingsley said tight hair styles, pony tails, hard brushing and hair extensions could all lead to traction hair loss.

'The old-fashion hair extensions were put in by weaving threads which had hairs attached to them between the natural hair,' he said.
'They were weaved next to the scalp and tightly knotted at each end to secure them.'
'Because of their proximity to the scalp, the thread, which the hair knotted onto it, rubbed on the scalp, caused irritation, consequently making it sore and sometimes breaking the skin.'
He said the new way to put in hair extensions, which involves glue-heating them onto natural hairs, could cause similar problems.

'The biggest potential problem is traction hair loss and breakage because of the pulling involved.'
But Naomi appeared oblivious to the revelation as she posed at a gas station in the Meatpacking district.

^ Honestly I think her face is so beautiful she'd look good bald, without the wigs and all.

Wow! That actually looks painful :(
It is true that her face would look amazing even if she were bald

Comedian and actress Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) has received the all-clear about her breast cancer and celebrated her 52nd birthday by going public with her hair, having worn a wig throughout her treatment, as seen in the first shot (dailymail.co.uk):

I don't get it, she has enough money to do something with her hair to look normal, go to good hairdresser, dye it, cut it, i don't know, so many options. She looks horrible, her hair is always yellow fake bleached mess, damaged, without any style. Why?
