I'd love to buy it in Paris too but then couldn't get tax back as i'm living in the UK. Will have to buy it either in London (and then claim tax before I go on my trip to the US), or in NY (and claim my tax leaving there). Anyone know the price of the large 2.55 double flap, black caviar in the US? I'll call the London store and report back with prices if anyone's interested in the UK cost...

Salome, thank you so much for that!! My gosh they've gone up a lot the past few years! I bought mine 4 years ago in Australia and it was AU$2260 compared to $4000+. That's a big difference in a few years! Although I think they've changed the names and now i'm not 100% sure what mine was. It was the smaller sizes (not jumbo) but I always thought it was just called the large flap (it was caviar with a smaller flap inside the outside flap - unlike the common jumbo style which only has a single flap and is flimsier) - though now there only seems to be medium and jumbo. Am I imagining things (or even making sense)??

Thanks Gainsbourg! So the caviar jumbo 2.55 only ever has one flap? My friend has that one and it just seems so much flimsier (hers looked older in a year than my classic double flap did in 4 years). Hmm, now I'm all confused about which style to get. Now, because I trust all of your opinions, does anyone care to give a preference on the following:

Classic caviar (gold hardware) 2.55 double flap in the large classic size (£1660)
Jumbo caviar 2.55 (£1980)
Black 227 reissue (does this come with both gold and silver hardware by the way?) (£2295)

I had the classic large before and now I don't know whether to get that again or upgrade to jumbo. Does anyone have both? Which do you get more wear out of and why?

I really do love the reissue, but i'm slightly turned off by the fact that all the impostor chain bags have the same clasp and I don't want it to be confused for Primark (not that i'm wearing it to be flashy)

^ I say get what suits you better but personally I prefer the M/L to the Jumbo. I don't carry a lot though, I also prefer the Balenciaga First to the City I just like smaller bags lol. Also I think the M/L is classic and much more versatile, you can wear that day to night while the Jumbo is a bit big to be using as an evening bag. And for the reissues, yes they come with gold or silver whichever you want

I did have the larger classic size before and love how versatile it is, but struggled with how little I could fit in there (I had to strategically pack everything just so) so was toying with the idea of a larger reissue. In the jumbo style, I think I prefer the reissue version to the classic 2.55 style - it just looks a little more chic I think.

^ Yeah that's the one thing about Chanel classic bags, they're not that spacious no matter what size you get since they're framed. Especially the mini flap, I love my mini but god it's like playing Tetris in your purse!

The mini is tiny! I could literally fit 2 things in there. And I know what you mean about tetris - I have to stack all the flat things at the back and the other loose bits in front of that (but don't even think about a big purse or makeup bag!)

Also Gainsbourg I noticed you're in NYC - that's where i'm planning on buying mine when I go there in August (so I can claim the tax back). Do you mind me asking if there is a particular boutique or department store concession that is the best to visit for bags? Or any other general city tips I should know? Thanks in advance!!

^ I'm not really sure which store is the "best" as some people base that on sales assistants, some base it on stock etc but personally I love the boutique on 57th and Madison it's never busy in there and it feels very calm I find. The one in Bergdorf's has gotten a lot of good reviews from people too and they usually have a few more harder to find things in stock My best general NYC tip is to explore and have fun! I still find odd things I never knew about (mostly in the village as I'm not downtown much) there's always something waiting to be found
