Chanel Haute Couture F/W 14.15 Paris

The shorts :yuk:.
Always the same boring silhouettes. A pity, because the fabrics/details/embroideries are gorgeous.

Unfortunately, by saying this collection 'could be better' is just showing how low the bar has been set lately. And I'm not just talking about Chanel. Dior is another example. When I watch the Haute Couture shows, I want to be WOWED. The only designer who seems to understand at least the drama factor is JPG.
If only Karl could do this AND add his flawless construction and wearability, then maybe I wouldn't be disappointed every season.

But why does couture need drama? Its not costume, its meant to be clothing.

I don't like this collection at all because its the same old from Karl, but at the same time, I don't think it needs to be over the top.

Unbelievable! How amazing!

Karl is always a master of evening wear... How beautiful aren't these dresses? And Oh! the work that went into making them... 3000 hours? 5000 hours?

There were definitely some ugly pieces in that collection but personally I thought they were vastly outnumbered by the beautiful ones. The craftsmanship was beyond spectacular. Best Chanel collection in a while.

It's personal taste. Maybe nostalgia. I understand it's not for everyone, but it once was for Chanel.

The hair, bye! Chanel and Fendi, it needs to go. Sandals? What happened to the heels? I feel like Karl hasn't designed heels for some time now, his other shows haven't had much, or any for that matter.

The clothes, I like. The hair and makeup are horrendous.

The artistry is outta this world gorgeous, but that's about it.

Agreed that the soundtrack was really good!

The collection didn't really convince me in pictures, but the video sold it to me. I thought it was lovely and I liked those very clean lines.

Actually very pretty. Last season the supermarket thing was so overbearingly gimmicky and ridiculous.

The white looks are beautiful stiff/soft fabric that looks good, but he could've done so much more interesting with the inspirations in question. Biggest problem with chanel to me is that the shapes really aren't very flattering for a woman and added to that the oftentimes forced incorporating of sporty/street elements. Also, I was sad to notice that he has used corsets in many of the looks for many seasons now, something I find unnecessary and disrespectful considering the original ideology of Chanel.

when i see the details and the video, i love it. i love the red dresses and the use of the concrete is amazing, as well as the sequins

OMG check the "collection in detail" video out! It's amazing to see the work up close

am curious to see how this translates on the red carpet. Am sure those little dresses will look awesome worn without the shorts underneath
I loved that black and silver armour like outfit

Karl really has no idea how a women body looks. Everything looks so unflattering on the models. Terrible colection.

They look awkward on the models, but I am sure there are actresses and stylists who can make a lot of these looks look very good. I think Karl emphasizes the awkwardness. Maybe he feels that an overall aesthetic not everyone (myself included...) will appreciate makes the collection more sophisticated?
