(NEW YORK) Christian Dior’s couture show on July 2—part birthday blowout, part supermodel reunion—is guaranteed to be an extravaganza of unparalleled status. The all-night festivities, to which 1,000 celebrities, clients, and editors have been invited, are taking place at L’Orangerie de Versailles, and will commence at sunset under a dress code billed as “extreme elegance.” As for the show itself, Galliano, who recently went to Sevilla, Spain with his studio team, said Thursday night at his eponymous men’s show in Paris that the undoubtedly blockbuster collection will be inspired by Dior’s 60th anniversary. For one, it will boast the longest runway of any fashion show in history. It will also be dedicated to Steven Robinson, his unwavering right-hand man, who died suddenly in April at the young age of 38.
A true supermodel reunion is also expected, with names like Kate Moss, Gisele Bündchen, Linda Evangelista, and Naomi Campbell all rumored to be re-emerging onto the catwalk. A gaggle of the bold-faced models will also host the afterparty in the gardens of Versailles.
Jeremy Healy, a veteran of Galliano’s runway productions, will continue to mastermind the music, while Michael Howells will oversee set design and Alex de Betak will produce the show. What’s more, Vogue Italia has enlisted Steven Klein—who just signed on to shoot all of Details’ forthcoming covers—to document the show and afterparty for an upcoming issue. The famed photographer is expected at Versailles over the weekend to walk the venue and familiarize himself with the space. To accommodate Klein's needs, Dior has even constructed a special booth on the side of the runway for him to work out of.
