Christian Dior S/S 08 Paris

This is all so sexy, really really really Valentino but done in a kind of trashy Dior way.
The glamour of it is so sexy and done in a 40's way, really sexy. Galliano has pretty much nailed it here. I love the suits with the sharp tailoring and strong shoulders, the red dresses and how it is slit at the front showing a bit of leg, the sheer chiffon dress with a bit of everything peaking....
This is Dior...

Gorgeous dresses, some chic tailored pieces (that smoking on Celia!!!) but that's kind of it.

By Galliano standards it's downright boring. I know there's nothing fundamentally wrong with creating beautiful pieces without a whole backstory, but that just does not work for John Galliano. He's better than that.

For years people wanted wearable, this is what you get. Immediately wearable, beautifully designed clothes, minus any sense of magic.

In a way it reminds me of his early rtw for Dior in terms of the clothes. But it lacks any of the irreverence or sophistication. Too much boring color and leopard print and when you take it out of the context of a smoke filled parlor with models cavorting on a chaise, it just seems less special.

Very well said.

I like it, I don't love it.
I'm sure this will be hugely influential in street style because it's quite simple and easy to copy, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The final dresses are wonderful, but that's always to be expected from Dior, no? I'm a sucker for any Jazz/Flapper references in any collection, which is probably why I like this more than I should.

I agree too

Galliano can do better

What a bore...I too miss the old days of Galliano for Dior. The silhouette, the saturated hues, the music, and most importantly the story each and every piece told. The magic that once was is slowly fading and I'm sad to see it go.

I totally agree with u, this collection is completely boring

This is such unbelievable crap I can't even believe it's really on a runway, forget the fact that it's really Dior, and that's really Galliano walking out behind it. Is he wearing pants? Oh well, nothing could be more embarassing than that collection, so I guess it doesn't really matter

Gah. I hate boring John....but I do like the prostitute-chic feel of the show.
