I love both covers equally, as different as they are. Both draw me in for different reasons.

They could have literally been any model. Nobody could recognize them.

I'm surprised Sorrenti shot this. I thought Conde Nast photographers weren't allowed to shoot for this magazine.

The first cover that Oxymore mentioned was Fernanda Ly...the glittered teeth along with the very visible veins on the eyeball are freaky but definitely attention-getting. Joan's cover is captivating too. But the glitter is a little weird there too, thinking of the awful irritation it would cause if it accidentally got into the eyes!

To me, the Fernanda Ly Cover is definitely attention grabbing but not in a good way. I really don't like the glitter on her teeth but what bothers me even more is the effect the reflecting light has on her iris. It looks as if it was cut out and had the shape of a lying crescent. It took several views for me to realize that it was just the reflection of the light and no weird contact lenses.
In general I like the glitter and I think the Joan Smalls cover is a good one.

There's a third cover, nothing spectacular, but a close-up shot of a girl with a red bow in her hair.

I think the part of my excitement here is how well the excess and garishness was captured. I'd take this sort of beauty shot over Love's version any day!

Rihanna has two covers for CR Fashion Book’s ninth issue, which marks her first time in the magazine. Carine Roitfeld, creator of CR Fashion Book and former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, styled the pop star. Terry Richardson, who worked with Rihanna on previous projects, did the photo shoot.

The legendary Queen Marie Antoinette inspired this issue. According to Roitfeld, Rihanna and the young queen share an apologetic attitude and both have inspired society in many ways.

"The magazine is crafted around key elements of her [Marie Antoinette’s] life—her exuberant sense of fashion, her elaborate hairdos, her intense sexuality—almost like a modern biography through fashion imagery. And on the cover is Rihanna, who shares with Marie Antoinette an air of royalty that I, and the world it seems, find intoxicating."

The issue costs $30 and it hits newsstands on September 15th.

Must admit that Rihanna's covers are my favorite throughout this entire thread - I'm loving them. They're just typical Carine and Rihanna suits this type of styling perfectly. The covers (unlike the teasers) certainly leave me wanting to see what else this issue has to offer..

Is there a change of Art Director or did they get some investment/budget boost because their covers never looked that good and hugh fashion. All are actually very striking and I'd consider buying them if I'd saw them on the newsstand;

No kidding! A few months ago this magazine had absolutely nothing of interest going on...but now...I'm so excited to see the full issue
