Dior Homme Mens F/W 08.09 Paris

I'm still trying to comprehend this collection but it's pretty much in line what I had in mind, Kris has set the right mood and style for DH. Much more coherent than Hedi's work which was on a down hill slope. Hopefully Kris knows what he's doing and what he's vision for DH is. It would be sad if he created terrible collections like Hedi, consisting of just a bunch of different non wearable outfits.

A very poor move for the house of Dior, significantly insignificant…shame..

I agree with the statement that DH lost their young and hip clientele with the departure of Hedi. I am one of them...

don't most designers start out as assistants?

yes they do!! however i agree on the lack of vision (not bcause if being an assistant, just because he still has to find his own path)

i do agree he has gotten kind of incoherent the past few seasons; which is unfortunate because when his own line first started it was full of promise and potential, and it did seem like he had a very clear idea of where he wanted to take it and what he wanted to be as a designer.

Awful

This is truly and remarkably awful. When Hedi was designing for Dior Homme, there was something that was just unmistakably beautiful in all his clothes. A sort of delicacy. With this, it's just heavy handed. Just plain awful.

No need to hold Hedi Slimane's work up against this, to show how bad it is,
it tells the story all by it self! :ninja: ...

its so interesting to see people so impassioned about the new look at dior--i was always dumbfounded as to why people jumped on the hedi bandwagon, i thought his work at dior barely touched the level of sophistication he was pushing at ysl (but to each his/her own, fine, whatever). do established customers simply want to be placated? isn't his main responsibility to do what motivates and challenges him? the collection could be a hell of a lot worse. he is as shaky as any newcomer should be but i love what he's getting at, trying to tie it all back to the tradition of the house instead of sweaty teen concert goers. as much as i love all of you dearly, and i do, fashion cannot babysit.

^ I agree, the design of Kris are not bad, especially I love his idea when it comes to treatment of jacket. but I might be excited better if Hedi's DH.

i hate how they make all the guys skin look pale. makes them look 'ghoulish'.

I actually adore this collection. Much better than his SS08.

(Why does the title of this thread say Dior Homme "Mens"?!?! I mean, it's understandable that homme means man. Unless there's a womenswear for Dior Homme...hehe)

Pretty wild stuff. A little spooky with the white faces. It must have been a cool show in person.

I dislike the models, the clothes (well, maybe with the exception of one or two items like the butterfly blazer) and the ambiance of the show.

i'm watching the video (on dior website)....
does someone know what's the music??? or how to capture it???? (where's my JR1?????)
......

anyway.... it seems good, i like the atmosphere though i'm REAL bored of the blackbox and total monochrome outfits....
oh yeah it does create an interesting atmosphere (though sooo déjà-vu) for a theme such Lumière du Nord.... (eventhough Theyskens for a similar theme did a better scenography back in time when he had still his own label) but HOW, I say, HOW can we say clearly the outfit??????........
didn't you think Black on White would be more striking....????
isn't the intention of a show to have a view of the outfits????
or maybe this is just about the Image.....?

i like KVA @ Dior, very much, still......
by the way for Hedi's lovers.... the finale is a copy/paste of Hedi's finale.... with all the boys walking together.....

i thought his work at dior barely touched the level of sophistication he was pushing at ysl
I thought the same....
Hedi @ YSL was just a pure moment of GENIUS!!!!!!
