Dior Homme Mens F/W 08.09 Paris

There's a substantial reason he was an assistant. He lacks vision. Going back to tight silhouettes after forcing that horrible hip hop hammer look is foolish. Even at it's most poetic, it is tacky. Cutting the collection in black is also telling things aren't good.
Whatever you think of Slimane, his influence was staggering for it to have influenced not only "old gays" (like previously mentioned) but a fleet of young men and teens. (straight).
This has nothing going for it at all. It has lost the former clientele (like myself). I personally don't look gay or ridiculous wearing the last remnants of Slimane's last collection this Fall.
I'll be happy if he finds a new (or old) client to buy his wares: read BUY, not just look and judge in a magazine or site.
Blackpalm:
looks a bit like some slavic costume drama on ukranian tv.

Indeed.

They just showed a bit of the collection on French tv, it looked better, must of been the better lighting  and the designer Kris was talking about the collection...

Yes, but going on about the 7 metres used in the pant seems irrelevant. We're not sanctioned for cloth, it's not a skirt and what man would really want all that girth! The model looked ill at ease.

Some pieces are interesting, not very-very creative (inspired from past collections). Plus, I don't really like the tissue Kris used for the ultra-slim pants.
Really nothing so amazing.

+ Miss you Hedi.

Well said...I was looking forward to this to hopefully lure me back into the store for Fall, however, I don't have high expectations anymore. Many people knock Slimane for what Dior Homme came to represent in recent years, but without that, I don't think Dior would've had an identity. With this latest collection, Dior Homme still doesn't have a true identity. It's just too all over the place for me.

Luving Cathy's review. She can be a real b**** when she wants to. Oh I wish I had the time to read all the review in here!!

this is...

...such a time wasteing collection. it seems that they haven´t recognized that hedi is gone. they still try to bring some influences in. but they even didn´t succeed. ok, there are a few pieces which are ok. but it´s nothing special or new.

i´m...disappointed. but the best thing this year was the new yves sain laurent from stefano pilati. i really adore what he have done. and dior should try a new way next year..because if not...i think they will lose some crediblity which they earned due the hedi era.

I'm sorry but this collection is utter trash. Frankly I am quite shocked that many people have commented that the aesthetic is "very Dior Homme" or very "Hedi", maybe I am missing something but I think it couldn't be further from the truth.

Other than the fact that the silhouettes, cuts, fabric and colour choices are all massively unflattering the entire collection lacks any cohesiveness...and the fact that you have whited out faces and pulled back hair does not make your collection tell a story.

To me the whole show has brought Dior Homme back to square one, and not in a good way. While we all had very different opinions about Hedi's work, at least it was wearable to some extent and had a clear direction and aesthetic. I feel like Hedi worked so hard to put Dior Homme on the map and this collection has wiped it all out.

The tight pants?

The ENORMOUS pants?

The poorly tailored jackets? (what is with the length?)

The unnecessary adornments?

The deep metallics? Dear god..this isn't a bad vampire movie...

It's like some hideous fashion student's attempt at "reinventing" Dior Homme...

Sorry, in case you couldn't tell I hate it.

I dont like the collection,
Heidi first collection was full of cool details and his cute
was so desirable..., but I dont like this pieces...

I miss Hedi so much now...

The cuts are off and the pieces look like they were made in a hurry and from cheap materials. The models are way too built and big for the clothes and the look of DH.
I like the vampire theme though..and the butterflies. Thats about it. How sad...
The ideas are cool (a bit copying from Hedi's old collections though!) but the execution is poor. From Hedi's work I could buy things for myself (yes im a chick) but not from this one. Im just waiting for Hedi's own line to come..

Some is good, some is bad, but I have faith in Kris.
The only thing that bothered me were the models - quite stiff.

No need to hold Hedi Slimane's work up against this, to show how bad it is,
it tells the story all by it self! :ninja: ...
