I dunno why I'm posting this, but I was just philosophizing about Dior Homme in my room, and came up with this out of boredom:

TOP 5 DIOR HOMME-ERS
1. Shawnvox
2. Dominidior/Whimsicalist/Dioruchka
3. obsolete_design
4. black_all_black
5. colin

Lifetime Achievement Dior Homme Award: raimund
Youngest man with largest Dior Homme catalogue in his closet: doo888
American Express Centurion Award for Highest Number of DH purchases: Chinor1z

the definitive list of top dior homme aficionados in the world at the moment...these men have been chosen for their exquisite, selective taste and fine appreciation for the history and culture behind the brand we all have come to love and obsess over, DIOR HOMME.

Ohlala, me is on that list too  ... and that although I´ve gotten a bit unfaithful with Slimane, in favour of my new hope, Nicolas Andreas Taralis. So far it´s only a story for girls and very skinny boys, cut just like the Dior Homme fashion show prototypes (I´d say a size 44 & 46 could fit the clothes, the tailoring is androgynous by design, thus there is no exagerated female breast & the buttonline is a men´s) and in continuation of what Follow Me, Luster and Strip represented for the Dior Homme label (dinner jackets, spencers and á-la-Napoleon-jackets, anyone?). I bet he´ll start doing men in a couple of seasons as well, it´s only just a matter of time.

I have always been in love with the darker, couture-esque aspect of Dior Homme clothes, but if it´s to be found elsewhere these days, than I´ll gladly have a look elsewhere. I just have some expectations on a Hedi-Slimane-only label, maybe things are becoming a bit different once he has full creative freedom...?

No thanks. I already had enough during Paris fashion week with all those obvious head-to-toe Dior Homme fashionists, there was barely any individuality in the outfits I saw and I also stopped counting those "The End" shirts, I was shocked above all when I saw a boy that was barely in his teens (if even younger) wearing the longsleeve version in grey, walking along the Centre Pompidou with his parents... YUCK!

i am looking at a pair of white canvas/suede sneakers likes these on e-bay but how would i clean them? With cons i just throw them in the washing machine but that might effect the suede.

You can try using bee wax.You can easitly get them in any shoe shops!

Haha i'm honoured, Matt. But it's mostly a (somewhat selective) back-catalogue; i havent purchased a single item this season. I'm/was tempted with the satin fireworks bomber, though.

I'm 20 which i acknowledge is young (heck i feel 30 inside!), but i don't consider myself that young when i see/read/hear of those many years younger and buying up DH en masse purely for brand association

dear paris dior friends

a friend of mine is now at hotel mariot

if you have some old dior items
or some other stuffs
he can bring them to me

highly believe for some tie or old belt

whim - so do you want people just to give your friend their DH things? my goodness

I'll gladly stay the night at the Marriott hotel if it means people will give me their Dior Homme clothes for free!...

God you guys are so sad here. To be overjoyed over some stupid award? Don't you people have a life? I mean they are just bloody clothes. Doesn't mean anything to life!!

I guess I don´t have to count myself in then, since I didn´t care at all ...

As an Hedi Slimane's YSL/ Dior Homme devotee, I always wanted to put my hands on this thread, since there are so many people expressing their "thoughts", however, I haven't. Simply bcos I don't have the time to keep up with what you guys have been talking abt, and also, importantly, my love to Dior Homme has fade from strong to weak, mainly bcos it's gone to a general public level, and the 2 shows in 2005 really put me off, also the commercial approach from Dior couture (the womenswear p-a-p) has spread to DH these days graduately.
However, I think the s/s 06 show was a better show than the ones forementioned, it's more about details, more about designing than styling. When I was telling one DH in-house staff that I find Hedi has lost the french allure as the very beggining, he told me that the designer has been looking at a bigger picture, and been influenced by a larger scale of things from different levels, instead of just one individual thing (music) like b4 (although a lot of press associate the theme to Pete Doherty, but, I have never seen Doherty that clean tho). Hedi's grown older and think differently for sure, therefore change occurs. I was intrigued by designers like CCP, Rick Owens and Nicolas Ghesquiere's menswear while my Dior heart faded, I was going through a De-Diorization, mainly for trying to look different from the DH-look-alike people, i thought i could "De-D", but well I doubt I could...

Jesus, my "top 5 list" was just a joke...i be sayin all kinds of crazy sh*t when it's late and my thoughts are wandering, i didn't expect such a hostile reaction

dude, you named yourself after a designer

Yeah, that's lame too. Hedi Slimane (the poster not the designer) has to be one of the biggest trolls I've ever seen a forum.

One nice thing about not having much money is that it forces you to be inventive and creative with how you dress so you don't end up looking like a clone. But I swear if I had the money I would be one of the fools dressed head to toe in DH.

Balenciaga shoes vs dior shoes: fit

Hi, anyone know how the fit of Balenciaga shoes compares to that of dior shoes? I own dior ankle boots which fit me well and I'm eyeing the balenciaga ankle boots that just go listed on ebay. Fit larger/smaller than dior? Anyone own balenciaga shoes? Happy with them?

Well said. I think Dior Homme, as an abstract concept rather than the physical clothing, sparks something in all of us obsessives as it perfectly captures the moment in our lives when we live with a sense of reckless abandon whether physically or emotionally/mentally...the brash sense of 'f**k-you' cool covering a deeper sense of wanting to be noticed and admired, or more importantly, loved. I could be totally wrong, these are just my interpretations at 3 in the morning. I think I'm going to bed now. As a man once said, good night, and good luck ;)

That's what I've always thought of it too. But to explain that to my friends or other people that I meet, I'm not even gonna try. "It's just clothes" they'd say (even an admin posted that in this thread once I think) . No, it's not "Just clothes" :) Anyways, well put!

(SS05 ,save a couple of blazers and onwards are "just (nice) clothes" for me tho)

^Completely agree, for me, Dior Homme is losing it's luster (funny, luster..). Look at Dior classic. Look at all those Dior-whores wearing it just because it's Dior. They might wear some of the best Dior Homme pieces, pieces that show Hedi's greatness and pair it with a Dior classic monogram bag and accessories and an excessive amount of bees. What does that tell you? Dior Homme is now seemingly focused on t-shirts. They're cheaper, so more people can afford them. It's trendy. The fragrance, Gucci or Louis Vuitton could have well made it.(Ooops, the latter owns Dior, so they did ) It's 100% commercial, 100% trendy. There's nothing experimental about this fragrance. Nothing special, except for the bottle (and I don't much like the bottle...it's very..commercial)

I'm hoping for a Hedi Slimane, indepedent from LVMH, collection.

So I guess Hedi is moving on. Come across a photo editorial of Russian soldier photographed by the man himself....can't wait to find out.
