Discussion: Who Should Be The Creative Director of Gucci?

Exactly....someone must do a documentary about all these silly hire/fire things because it's getting ridiculous...

In fact they need to redo Sabato's documentary to explain the debacle his appointment was in the end...

That woman Federica de Salto was also fired?
she will be ........for now only him they send home .....

no rush yet to send his gang packing ....its better to let some structure innplace so they can do the show

and then people get nervous start leaving by themselves which is cheaper for the company, the rest will be cleaned out once new cd is arriving via new positions that are less attractive so you start leaving your self or with legal counseling or simple firing via mutual agreements etc

It would be great but he was fired from BV.
I don’t think/know if he has mended his relationship with Pinault.

Anna can be an advocate for him as she has been very supportive but unless he has changed his lifestyle, I don’t see him there.

On paper, he is the perfect candidate.
He has a strong aesthetic, an eye for luxury and quality and he makes good clothes for men and women.
Actually Pinault liked him as a person, it was the BV management that he had huge problems with. I think by protocol he won’t be hireable in Kering for a long time unfortunately…. Not that he would ever want that anyway

Do you know when we will hear about the new cd?

Tisci perhaps? I wouldn't want to ironically find ourselves with Pierpaolo Piccioli, who I remind you is one of the most influential creative directors still without a job. In my subconscious I would like to see maybe a Gucci collection by Ludovic de Saint Sernin, please don't lynch me

Why is PPP mentioned so often? His Valentino was never a success after MGC. They were half struggling since he started.
Ultimately I preferred him to Maria Grazia Chiuri's work at Dior and Michele's work at Valentino, I don't understand why he is so hated or at least snubbed.

I don’t hate him at all and I do prefer him over MGC as a designer. The thing is that MGC has a success story and PPP doesn’t.

But I don’t think that Gucci could allow itself to go into another short tenure.

I think PPP would do better at Gucci than at Valentino.

MGC has a success story but the products and the shows because of their redundancy are a bit « done ». She is a safe choice for success but nothing tells us that the formula will work again. She didn’t last a decade at Dior.

Gucci needs someone that has enough range to last a decade, something PPP is. He may not had it bags at Valentino but he had it shoes and impactful shows. And let’s be honest, it’s easier to sell a Gucci bag with a good show than to sell with a lukewarm show….Something Sabato proved to us.
