Discussion: Who Should Be The Creative Director of Gucci?

Oh god really?...So Cantino is drunk or what?...do we need greek themed shows for Gucci?
Her Dior was always like a salad without dressing, or a chocolate cake without chocolate lol....
I was also thinking that this is truly insane. Miss Gucci and We should all be Gucci Feminists tops.. watch this space!

If it's Vacarello, it's about convenience and the downfall of Gucci will be these kinds of executive decisions. I'm sure Belletini would approve this because she can work with him but Gucci needs a cultural disruptor or playful eccentricity. He is WAY too serious, restrict and soulless.

really??? omg

Suzanne Koller is a better choice for Gucci than Alastair or Marie....
they all 3 don't impress me when it comes to styling fashion shows ......Koller is nice as a person i like her editorial work but shows i don't see a point of view other than clean x clean

where as lotta i find stronger in shows and adv but editorials i cant remember the last one she did that stick in my head

I spoke to my close source from Gucci hq yesterday and they said MGC is also considered apparently!
i know people from her dior team, and they said months ago she would be happy to be in gucci and be back in italy .....she would see it as a big deal and beautiful revenge against her other two male ex co worker AM and PPP.

to me at this point with this directionless leadership i am not surprised by any one they end up hiring only one that would shock me is if hedi would go there the rest i can believe is already one foot in the door

she! is calling the shots don't think for a moment it's the Gucci Ceo lol she put him there so she can do Gucci on the side via him.

she was talking about gucci on last kering presentation not him that's what also other reporter noted why is the gucci CEo not speaking about his plans for gucci ...Marco would not let this happen she knows she can do it with the person she hired for this job.

Cantino so far has ZERO Ceo experience and let alone vision for choosing a talent the guy likes classic things especially money and power!

I did enjoy her work for the Gucci show she did in 2023, it wasn’t clean at all, maybe more balanced…also i’ve enjoyed the cast.

Cantino and Belletini are clueless and desperate…

Can’t wait for tuesday! Lol

I heard this too (the whole "she wants to go back to Italy")... My only thing is that I feel like Gucci suits have to make a coup to bring Gucci back to life and I'm not sure her nomination would have that effect. Nor would her designs... She's a good Merchandiser but SDS proved that you need way more than that for Gucci. Gucci has to be radical to work, in one way or another.

MGC is a terrible CD though. And Gucci needs someone who got the whole package. Yes, in terms of merchandising, her product is potent but as we know it, Gucci is also the shows, the campaigns, the people they dress. In 2028, they will get their beauty license back so, the person heading that must also have a vision regarding all of that.

The Dior machine is so huge and well oiled that MGC never had to deliver iconic shows or campaigns. Her most memorable moments are the t-shirt, the tote bag and the relaunch of the saddle bag.

And as I said, again, her tenure is rather short and there’s already a fatigue.

Gucci and Kering needs to start looking at long terms project really. Vaccarello is almost going to be a decade in at YSL, Demna is going to be a decade in at Balenciaga. Since Tom Ford, Gucci never had someone stay there for 10 years. You need a sense of stability if you want to compete with Chanel and Vuitton.

I hope they are really looking at all options. If it also mean separate men and womenswear, they should also go for it and choose the best talents.

I'm actually curious to see the interim collection. The last collection by the team, just before SdS, was better than anything SdS presented, so I can see why they asked Suzanne Koller again.

I wonder about the timing of the announcement of a new Creative Director. They really can't afford to wait very long after the show.
I can understand why they fired SdS just days before the disastrous 2024 figures, but one would expect that they already have someone lined up or are at least in the final stages of negotiations.
Kering announced the BV switch (Blazy out and Louise Trotter in) pretty rapidly, which I think was about the only thing they've done right recently.
