Discussion: Who Should Be The Creative Director of Gucci?

Exactly. Let Gucci burn.

I'm just glad it's not Hedi like all the delulu Hedi stans were claiming, like in what universe?
Don't get me started on Hedi. He ruined YSL and did the same with Chloé, imho. I wouldn't have a problem with him if he had his own label.

On the contrary to Cantino’s statement, the sales girls in my nearby Gucci boutique mentioned yesterday that there are already talks among corporate that their colorful uniforms will be replaced to black similar to Balenciaga.

It will be sad to visit Gucci, that used to champion bold colors and whimsical takes on vintage references, turn into dark streetwear vibes.

Not that Demna won't change the uniform in the future, but I would take that comment from the sales associate with a grain of salt. Demna doesn't officially start until July, and I doubt corporate is pressing about the uniform (above all else). The uniform from Alessandro's era took like a few years to be implemented.

This pivot is scarce on so many factors. From finding the right talent, the effect on this in the long term and actual measurement of what their customer profile wants or needs.

Believe me, my fingers are crossed, hoping it’s to be implemented last, and not in dystopian colors for their sakes.

Supposedly, their current, new-ish uniforms in the main stores are part two of Alessandro’s era, but Sabato changed a few details (no neck bows, flatter shoes, darker sweaters) when he took over and issued them almost immediately.

A corporate message from Sabato was also sent right after, claiming he created them in line with his vision, which is complete bs since even the sales associates knew 80% of the current uniform is just Alessandro’s second phase with the details taken away.

On a side note, many stores in China and smaller boutiques still wear the colorful first phase Alessandro ones, completely skipping the Sabatofication!
