Do you walk / run for exercise?

^ Don't worry about it. Assuming you're a woman, women just don't have the capacity to build muscle like that unless they're taking some type of muscle builders.

Now that I have my car up here in the city, I do a lot less walking to get my errands done. :( But I have a job now, too. I only drive maybe twice a week, the other times I bike to/from work. Saturdays are a guaranteed car day, as I drive to do my various errands. I'm just so tired from the week, the last thing I want to do is walk. But I really should figure out how to incorporate more walking in.

I used to be a big runner, but I found that I started dreading my workouts, and I simply will not work out after a while if I start losing sleep over it (not exactly in the literal sense, but it's never fun going to bed knowing you've gotta get up and RUN).

I find since i was seriosly sick i dont have energy to run... but i do enjoy a long walk...

Walking is easier on my body and makes me leaner than running. I average about 5 miles a day walking around the city...I hate running or walking on treadmilles, let alone being stuck inside staring at an unchanging scenery . I admire those of you who has the discipline to do what I can not!
absolutely same here:flower: i have time to walk that much on weekends though...

I would love to be more of a runner... But I'm so scared of putting out my knees (sad thing is I'm only 20)...that i stick to elliptical type machines and only run once in a while

i prefer walking. my knees would die if i would start running so long walks are for me. during the weeks a walk for 1 hour in the morning but i'm planning to start longer walks in the weekends. like 2 hours or smth

I didn't start walking until recently. I go walk around the park a few times. The amt. of miles vary on a day to day basis, but I do it for a enjoyment and leisure more than exercise.

I'm trying to get into running, but I absolutely HATE it. For some reason, I'd prefer to run indoors on a treadmill than outside. I really need to get into some sort of cardio routine, and running outside would be best because I travel so much, but I don't know how to make myself like it.

I used to run, but one day I got a sharp pain in my left knee. It took 2-3 days to heal. Since then, when I try to run, that pain comes back!

So, I have been walking (very fast) for 45 minutes to an hour in the evenings. I feel like I get a good cardio workout - just as good as 30 minutes of running -- and it does not hurt my knee.

I also find that it is nice to spend that time walking with my husband or friends -- to catch up and spend time together after a busy day at work.

I go running almost every day....Of course if I´m not sick, sleepy, too lazy to go:P or sth...In summer I go in the morning at 6 o´clock, cause later and in the evening is too hot to go..And in spring/autumn in the evening at 8 o´clock..I run about for hour in the forrest with my mum or my bestfriend..It´s funnier if you´re not alone:wink: After running we go swinging:lol: :P

But I´ve got sharp pain in my right knee,like you chantal..It´s dolorosus:cry: :( When I go running I put some gel on it,then it´s good,but later I just can´t walk...But I can´t give up running:doh:

I go run-walk-run-walk with my dog every other day but i can't run for long.. She's way better than me.. Though it's more than nothing.. ^_^

^ Don't feel bad if you can't run, actually is better to walk vigorously than to run. Keep going...

I hate running, but it's the only way for me to tone so I'll be walking/running more often. I had tendenitis (sp?) in my knee some years ago..but it seems to have disappeared. I don't own a car so I hop busses and walk everywhere. I wanna kick it up a notch though.

I just walk... preferably in the sunshine
but that is to get Vitamin D and maybe not for exercise
I used to do it on the treadmill, but it's so boring sometimes. But I did notice my heart rate goes up faster and stays up on the treadmill

I get my exercise through resistance training (like using the swiss ball, lifting free weights)

i walk --- i thn kits the one good thing about my compulsive shopping habit--- it gets me in shape. when i lived waay out of the central area, by the university, i was 2 dress sizes bigger and my legs were shapeless logs.

I do a lot of training at elyptical machines and cross-trainer. I usually go every other day (and every day on weekend) and exercise for 1h. I usually burn around 800 calories and I feel really good after exercising. I cannot run on treadmill because of my knee that I hurt some years ago.

i do really enjoy walking either fast or slow, i also like to run but my knees hurt so i have to keep it quiet with running
^_^

i have just started running on the beach at night with my best friend- its great its such a good work out and no one can see me cos we're running in the dark hehe

^^

I run in the morning when it's dark (between 6-7 am) I've worked up to 4 miles and ran a 5k last weekend and beat my previous time by 30 seconds:woot: ^_^

I only run on soft sand or grass because running on hard ground is really really bad for your joints.

I fast walk alot, especially when I am running late to a lecture...lol
