please help ID this: i don't believe these are docs, but similar. :flower:

if you click on the image and look closely you'll see they have silver hook eyelets like hiking boots which docs don't have. i've been scouring the internet to no avail; frye has a similar pair but only in men's sizes and kate bosworth' s pretty tiny in the shoe dept....

The Dr Martens Iris have the mountaineering-style d-rings and speed lace hardware, but they come in unusual colorways and are a bit clunkier than the ones posted.

I got an authentic pair at a local shoestore that was closing down and selling everything on 40%! Yay! I love them, they're so comfortable! I also have a pair of look-a-likes from H&M which are pretty comfy too!

I LOVE DOC MARTENS. im so happy they've had a fashion revival. as long as you don't wear too grungy clothes they're so chick. perfect with skin tight jeans and baggy vest top.

Really need a pair in my life! There are so cool, wanted them when i was younger but my mother thought they were a bit 'clumpy' for a young girl!

Just scored these off Etsy!

mine look they've been through a war. so dirty, you can't see the yellow stitching but i like them that way.

Yesterday, I bought my first pair of Doc Martens (1460) original black boots and they are incredibly painful. Where the tongue of the shoe begins, it hits the roof of my foot and the back causes my heel to develop blisters. What can I do to stretch these boots out? I know people suggest wearing thick socks but when I do it's hard to then get my boots on, it's just so tight. Any suggestion on how to relieve this pain?

BTW, what's the difference b/w the women's version and the men's?

^ very very hard to stretch them out, specially the non-Made in England boots. I have a pair and one of the shoes feels so tight; so what I do is I stuff it with a tiny stuffed animal I have when I'm not wearing it, hehehe, and it has helped! But, it doesn't stretch a whole lot.

Docs have the potential to add dimension to an otherwise drab outfit. Although I find them to be boring when combined with casual wear (think jeans and a shirt), I think they're refreshing with ultrafeminine looks: think of a gauzy black dress and tights with Docs.

i think its so funny that I own so many pairs of docs but have never gotten just solid black ones...

I have the same two problems when I break in a pair... It hurts quite a bit, unfortunately, but over time the shoes should adapt to your foot. I recommend wearing them regularly, and wearing band-aids where you know the blisters hit.
Taking a cue from breaking in pointe shoes, I have also taken a hammer to a pair of particularly hard boots, if you're game.

i like wearing mine with just jeans and a t-shirt, sometimes tucked in with a nice belt. i really love wearing them with tight jeans and a buttoned up shirt though.

I can't bring myself to wear them with jeans - I prefer dark leggings and a big top. It's pretty simple, but the most important part are the Doc Martens after all. The outfit was totally meant for them.

In my world, Docs never needed a revival because they never went out of style.

My first pair were 14-hole boots and was purchased somewhere in 2001/02 during highschool when I had scraped up enough cash. They were unfortunately, stolen in March, 2005 (FGTS! D8) It wasn't until 2008 when I took advantage of some tax-free glory, that I bought another pair. I swear, they must have been made for me- and much to my pleasure, others think so too. Maybe it's because its the only footwear I ever have on my feet.

They're a silvery-gunmetal grey with crazy, thick ribbon lacing. I usually wear them with the side zips down while I'm in Aussieland, but they've make the best winter boots even in icy, cold Sweden (as pictured above fully zipped up).

I'm still trying to hunt down a cotton candy pink pair that got released circa 2005. (I couldn't afford them at the time)...maybe one day!

I have a pair of brogue Dr Martens (made in England) bought 7 years ago that are still going strong - they are a mens UK 5. I'm thinking of buying either one of these styles. Should i go for a UK 6 if I'm usually a US 7.5?

For reference, I'm a US 7 and wear size UK 5 classic Docs. they fit like a US 8, and i wish i had bought a size down. I'm not sure about other styles, but considering those shoes are quite a bit narrower than classics, and that they're heels, going a size up isn't a bad idea. You're going to wear socks with them?
