We get it, they love being Italian. And we get it they love Italian opera and Italian lace and Italian food and Italian jewellery and Italian prints. But there are more interesting things than being Italian. I wish they'd explore something more worthwhile and original. They used to be so much...braver.

i agree so much. and, i might add, as an italian, everything they portray as 'italian' is so tacky and -at times - humiliating. there's so much more in being italian than rehashing for years and years the same 'sicilian'-derived aesthetic that maybe people will link to a certain 'image' of sicily derived from things like il padrino and the whole mafia-literature/films. im so tired of their revisitations of like sicilian women's mourning outfits (enough with the black lace - and this comes from someone who loves! black lace) and southern italy's religious imagery. same goes with their ads. this collection has very good pieces and extremely tacky ones. italy's also modernity and elegance. but thank god for miuccia prada and giorgio armani to show the world that. i'll leave this reactionary image of 'italy' to the nostalgic ones and the foreigners who might find it 'folkloristic'

The Sicilian themed collections that they have been doing must be selling like crazy for them to stick to it for 5,000 seasons now.

To be honest, this is a very delightful collection but that is it. After last season's market theme and gorgeous vegetable prints, I was hoping to see something new again, something lively and fun to wear. That's how I imagine Italy - energetic, bright, fun, lively, but not wrapped in black lace. I miss the times they were courageous with fabrics (plastic, rubber, metal) and shapes (2007-2008) but now I couldn't tell which season a lace dress belongs to. They all look the same now, even golden accessories never change... I am sick of that Miss Sicily bag - leather, woven, glittery - I don't even care anymore.

I was listening to their SS 2007 and FW 2007 soundtracks in hopes of them creating something like that, but they have failed me... for the 5624313 season.
The collection was nice, but the theme is out of hand.
This is not Dolce. They should have kept D&G, since they actually used different inspirations season after season.

I've become so indifferent to their collections. Everything they've been doing for the past few years has been so dismissible. There's no attitude in their work anymore, it's all the same 17th-19th Century Italy.

So agree. They could not do a fashion show this season and I would hardly notice, just keeping all the recent collections in mind.
