Dolce & Gabbana F/W 13.14 Milan

their clothes are actually ridiculously popular... i don't understand it myself, but that's beside the point i guess...

There are quite a few wearable pieces but it's so obvious to me that their first thought when designing is about whether the pieces will be chosen for editorials and if they are "quirky" enough for editors' street-style photos.

Needless to say with their money and clout we will see these costumes on the covers of many September issues around the world I'm sure.

One of their better recent collections. I might have even liked it, if it was new. I do love the crowns though.

I love it. I think there are pieces for every taste: the more wearable, for the quirky customer and for editorial. The embellished outfits at the end were all gorgeous.

Where are all the right-wing-religious members complaining about the desecration of religious images on overly expensive dresses? ;)

I actually think this is stunningly beautiful. I know many love to criticize them for being repetitive but I have nothing against variations of a theme that works. It's what their brand is about nowadays. I love many of the pieces shown here, especially the red and some of the gorgeous coats... Plus I see some fantastic shoes. I enjoy their shows because you know what you'll get and they deliver at that.

As far as their repetitious "molto italiano sicilian" themes go, this one isn't that bad. Their fall collections always end up looking better than their spring collections (need I bring up last seasons dolls or the season before's vegetables and macaroni earrings?) It's just really forgettable. There are some beautiful pieces, yes and I'm glad to see them experiment a little more with volume like they did in their last couture collection but this still isn't amazing. I miss their stuff from 2005-2007, it all went downhill after spring 2010, or lets face it maybe even 2009

The thing is that their collections used to look SO luxe, and they've truly lost that...

I wish it were socially acceptable to wear a crown every day ...I would totally do it

Look 22 looks like she's wearing a diaper.

This collection was terrible. It's literally the exact same stuff they've been putting out.

ikr!! The ads, the clothes- they used to be the BOMB, now it's the same fuddy-duddy cuts and shapes, no sex appeal... their tax evasion case must be stressing them out, they seemed to start losing their mojo shortly after all that started.

The pajamas collection from Spring/Summer 2009 killed their mojo!
They were soo experimental and modern, like Spring/Summer 2007 collection, that was splendid, and the Fall/Winter 2007/2008. That's Dolce Gabbana I want too see.

But this collection is also beautiful (but different from thoose superb previous collections), and I don't think it's cheap looking, looks very luxorious and exuberant, like Italy culture and history :) !

Completely agree. For me personally, I enjoyed the use of the embroideries and embellishments. It added such a luxe and glam touch to the pieces. Plus, I loved how the models were styled with those crowns. Totally fun, and it worked so well with the collection. The end with the sea of models strutting in all red and crowns was divine. Even the accessories were to die for as well.

The thing that bothers me the most are those barely there panties, what's with those looks in every collection? Is it supposed to be elegant, chic, maybe cool and fun?
Because I don't see any of it, maybe they just ran out of the ideas for bottom-wear, would't be surprised really, because I didn't see any new idea (let alone concept) in years here.

Yes, their collections before were sexy!!!
The ADS were sexy, controversial, amazing!
I mean, the collection was beautiful, but this Sicilian inspired collection is too much.
Dolce not using Sicily as an inspiration is like predicting the end of the world: it's not happening haha.

That's exactly how I feel! The crowns were my favourite bit, though I quite liked a lot of the shorter lace dresses as well. Personally, I think Dolce & Gabbana know what works for them, and they stick to it. I can appreciate it isn't to everyone's taste (most of it isn't to mine), but I can't fault them for what they do.

I'm getting bore with their collection, it was repeatedly over and over design. There were new elements but still it just lack the sexiness and coolness they used to have.
