Luminous, Glowy and Healthy Skin

It's not very likely at all that someone could get salmonella from either part of the egg on the face. Salmonella come from the shell and that's more likely from eating it.
Uhm. You do know that it spreads from the shell to the rest of the egg, no? Just getting it on your fingers is enough. From there it can spread to anywhere, and I'm sorry, but it's just DISGUSTING putting it on your face.

:sick::sick::sick::sick::sick:
i think i am not going to be eating eggs for a long long time:innocent: maybe never...all this egg talk is making me sick...

The possibility of salmonella being in the egg is not exactly high... so relax.

I bought organic grape juice - nothing added ;-) My skin already feels glowlier a couple of hours later :smile:

STEAMROOMS (Do it like the ancient Greeks! ...but seriously, I've always hated the idea of slathering chemical pee onto myself)
& abandoning all chemical based cleansers (But I use St Ives exfoliator once every blue moon...and I just sampled DHC's Deep Cleansing Oil :heart: I should get it..)
and instead rinsing my face with lukewarm water to clean it, and using grapseed oil as a moisturizer.
And I take Vitamin C, salmon oil, zinc, and calcium supplements
+of course keep your diet clean, drink your water, pay attention to anti-oxidants...exercise and sleep is holy, I rarely get to do it, especially the latter, though that doesn't keep me from trying! & I've been drinking all of my Chinese tea more often, especially green

= done me wonders. all the products I've ever used now seem like an UTTER WASSTE of money..and skin health :cry: It's primarily the steamroom's work, that's the main reason I've completely ditched using 'cleansers', like my Shiseido, and 'moisturizers', like my trusty Aveeno

I am very lucky to have a steamroom at the fitness center of my apartment building. Iknow not everyone has an at-home access to a steamroom, but if you ever see the opportunity to use one, even just once/once in awhile, TAKE IT it's SO worth it :blush:

How many people get raw egg on their fingers or hands from cracking an egg? How many of those people get salmonella?

I used egg white as a mask for a couple months and not once did I end up in the hospital :rolleyes: Really, it's fine.

I love saunas. We had one in our last house but the house we moved to doesn't have one :( But my aunt has one which we use a lot..

I have never had salmonella and I always get egg on my fingers, also if they have a lion stamp they are guaranteed salmonella free apparantly.

i was intrigued by what people said about the honey lemon water, so i googled it. it turns out that it's long known to be a digestive tonic. from what i read, it's supposed to clear out the system: aid in regularity, speed up metabolism, clear the complexion. so i'm trying it today, although i had to substitute limes for lemons.

^If you like lemons, the green tea and lemon combo brings about more benefits to your body than you could ever imagine

^ really? what have you noticed in your experience? and do they have to be brewed together, or could i get the same effects drinking the tea and lemon water separately?

You can't guarantee anything. It's a huge problem in Scandinavia and mainland Europe. You can buy guaranteed salmonella-free eggs here as well, and guess what...they're as filled with salmonella as everything else.

Oh really? Good for you. Because if it doesn't happen to you, it doesn't happen to anyone, everyone knows that. :rolleyes:

A lot of people actually do get salmonella. Some of them die from it. It is worse in Scandinavia (esp Sweden and Denmark, that's my impression at least), but even children know not to touch or eat raw eggs. That's just plain dumb.

Aside from salmonella, poultry in general have a lot of gross germs and vira that you really don't want inside your body. Needless to say...I never cook chicken, and very rarely eggs.

The effects are more long term, but let me copy and paste some of the health benefits from about.com

To sum up, here are just a few medical conditions in which drinking green tea is reputed to be helpful:

* cancer
* rheumatoid arthritis
* high cholesterol levels
* cariovascular disease
* infection
*impaired immune function

What makes green tea so special?

The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots. The latter takes on added importance when you consider that thrombosis (the formation of abnormal blood clots) is the leading cause of heart attacks and stroke.

Links are being made between the effects of drinking green tea and the "French Paradox." For years, researchers were puzzled by the fact that, despite consuming a diet rich in fat, the French have a lower incidence of heart disease than Americans. The answer was found to lie in red wine, which contains resveratrol, a polyphenol that limits the negative effects of smoking and a fatty diet. In a 1997 study, researchers from the University of Kansas determined that EGCG is twice as powerful as resveratrol, which may explain why the rate of heart disease among Japanese men is quite low, even though approximately seventy-five percent are smokers.

Why don't other Chinese teas have similar health-giving properties? Green, oolong, and black teas all come from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. What sets green tea apart is the way it is processed. Green tea leaves are steamed, which prevents the EGCG compound from being oxidized. By contrast, black and oolong tea leaves are made from fermented leaves, which results in the EGCG being converted into other compounds that are not nearly as effective in preventing and fighting various diseases.

Other Benefits

New evidence is emerging that green tea can even help dieters. In November, 1999, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published the results of a study at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. Researchers found that men who were given a combination of caffeine and green tea extract burned more calories than those given only caffeine or a placebo.

Green tea can even help prevent tooth decay! Just as its bacteria-destroying abilities can help prevent food poisoning, it can also kill the bacteria that causes dental plaque. Meanwhile, skin preparations containing green tea - from deodorants to creams - are starting to appear on the market.

ETA: The reason why you add lemon to green tea is so that the antioxidants and catchechins are "absorbed"... I read that the antioxidants you should get from green tea are flushed out of your system because the catechins contained in green tea cannot survive in non-acidic conditions.

I really hope you start drinking green tea and lemon, sugar free of course! It'll be a bonus for your health! I love it so much, hope you will start loving it too :heart:

^^ That's great news to me! I find myself constantly drinking tea, mostly green. I find it a much better alternative to coffee, especially during fall/winter time when it's freezing cold!!

No need to get snarky. We get it, you don't like raw eggs, you think everyone will get salmonella from them. I just think if people want to use it as a mask, let them, instead of jumping down their throats.

Michyed, does that about the green tea's antioxidants apply to other variations of green tea as well?

Good for you! :D Do keep it a habit!

how much lemon should one squeeze into a cup of white tea?
i squeezed less than a half and :shock: it's SO sour :lol:

The whole salmonella talk is cracking me up. And I agree...tons of people try to egg mask and are happy with it - myself included. My skin looks stunning after it...so I'll surely continue ;-)

Oh I found out today egg white is an ingredient in sours and as its liquid I'm pretty sure they can't cook it first and come on who doesn't lick the spoon when baking a cake? That said i have never tried it in a mask.

It's not that I don't like raw eggs, it's that you obviously think I'm lying or exaggerating. Why would I lie? What makes you an expert? I know because I looked into it. It's a huge problem here that people are ignorant and know nothing about it.
