I almost cried watching that video!
It was like her persona was too big for her tiny, fragile body. In the end it truly got the better of her. You see Edie's story replaying itself so often, and that's what makes it so sad.

i think that after learning more and more about Edie and her life, i feel that it's very disturbing, and it's not all the drugs but just everything..very sad..but i think that her charm and good looks make the story more beautiful..

People have said before that her family history and life are like something out of a Hawthorne or Poe story, it's so true. She was so doomed from the start...it's sad. She could've been a great actress if only someone cared enough to nurture her talent and not use her up. But the films she left behind are very iconic...and there is a reason why Edie is the most famous person from Warhol's crew.

Edie should not of been an actress, because with a horrible family background the movie industry is extremely unhealthy for someone emotionally unstable. Imagine her just being alive like right now, in her early 60s, married/widowed, kids, artist, socialite / patron of the arts, the outcomes are endless. But it was through fate and her own self destruction that ended it all, but Ciao Manhattan was her final redemption in telling her life as she "perceived" it.

I do believe that she had a hellish childhood...despite people saying they do have fond memories of the father and mother. There is something seriously wrong when it's the norm to be in and out of hospitals...and when 2 of your children commit suicide...

The coroner reported that Edie's death was an "accident/suicide" so three children killed themselves.

"accident/suicide" on a coroner's report usually means there wasn't enough evidence to definitely prove it was one or the other, so they keep the cause of death general.

Edie's life story is really heart breaking. All the beautiful photos we have of her, she's usually smiling or happy. I think she enjoyed her life, she seemed happy. It's terrible what happened to her at the end with Warhol.

Oh and I was wondering if anyone here has the BBC or whatever interview it was. Heres the animated gif:

I've seen some animated gifs of some of the footage, but never heard it.

I've never seen the whole interview, but in some Warhol documentary, they show a clip of it -

interviewer - "what do your parents think of you in these movies?"
edie - "....umm...ahhghh" (laughs)

I think that's sort of the jist of it, or at least from what the .gif is from (when she's listening to the interviewers question) It'd be interesting to see all of it, though.

Love your new avi gia :D
Anyway I just flipped through one of my Edie books and I really love reading about her dancing..I wish we had like a whole film just dedicated to her dance skills :D

^ I know, if Andy had only given enough attention and thought of filming THAT!!! I would sell my teeth to see a movie of Edie dancing... and I have nice teeth, people!!

I have just read "Girl On Fire" for sixth time, but the affair between Bob and Edie isn't still clear... what happened exactly? how did they met?
I'm sure you guys know everything! :D

Thx loonaka, and yea that would've been great to just have a dancing Edie film.

if you read Edie: An American Biography, bobby neuwirth talks about him and dylan going out with edie the holiday season of '64 I think? (I'd have to re-read it to be sure)
but she definitely dated bobby n. for 2 years or so and everyone's tight-lipped about her and dylan

i read an article hayden christensen did recently regarding his role in factory girl (which i know a lot of you were opposed to), but apparently he was forced to tone down his performance, even though his mannerisms and speech was very dylan-esque. it's so weird how so little is actually known if he and edie ever were together. without photographic evidence, though, i guess any realization is moot.

Bob is very secretive about his personal life. He used to tell different stories of where he grew up and that he was an orphan to throw off journalists. anyway some photos of edie from warhol look
