Sad. Lance Loud died of AIDS he is most memorable in Armistead Maupin's: Tales of the City, as the date of the male character Mouse (Michael Tolliver). He was a fan of Warhol and they became pen pals but through fate he met Edie in Santa Barbara on a beach and they became "acquaintances." Both of them died tragic deaths sorry to say.

Lance Loud Obituary

Lance Loud, the beguiling eldest son in a family whose conflicts were laid bare in a landmark 1973 public television documentary series, has died. He was 50.

Loud, a freelance journalist who had been living in Echo Park, died Saturday morning at a hospice in Los Angeles of complications from hepatitis C, his sister, Delilah, said Monday. With him at the time of his death, in addition to Delilah, were his mother, Pat, and sister Michele.

Loud emerged as a protagonist in "An American Family," the controversial PBS series that was a progenitor of today's unscripted programming. A real-life soap opera, it was the television sensation of 1973.

The series examined the Louds of Santa Barbara, who had allowed documentarians to trail them in their daily lives for seven months in 1971.

That's so sad! It was a while ago. The program i saw must have interviewed him way before they showed it.

Edie screen caps.

I was wondering if anyone had that section from a PBS documentary or something about Edie. It wasnt too long, but it was like 7 min or so. It used to be on Myspace Video, but it's not there anymore.

Oh, thank you for posting this! I love the clips paired with people's thoughts on Edie. The narrator is horrible though, her voice is so staccato.

i think that after learning more and more about Edie and her life, i feel that it's very disturbing, just everything..very sad..but i think that her charm and good looks make the story more beautiful..

I've always loved those pictures of her in that white dress/tunic...though I've never been able to find any that weren't just screencaptures. Does anyone know where there are better quality versions?

So true ,,Ive often wondered if she ever was truly happy with her life or if it was all just an act. Her beautiful smile could easily fool people
