I just went though all 373 pages of this thread (took a few days). I definitely have a little crush on Edie! she was so adorable and stylish.

Does anyone know if there are any pictures of her and bob dylan in existence? There arent any on this thread, but maybe somewhere floating around?

Not that I know of.....but here is a picture of her and Bobby Neuwirth:heart:, who was Dylan's "right hand man" and who dated Edie....not Dylan. I can totally understand your crush on Edie!!! You just can't help to fall for her:p

While I cannot say for sure the nature of Dylan and Edie's relationship, she had a PASSIONATE LOVE AFFAIR with his best friend, Bob Neuwirth. So naturally, she and Dylan would have been around each other. I believe she actually met Dylan and Neuwirth in Dec 1964, before she met Andy in March 1965...I may be wrong on this though.

And I don't know how anyone who knows Edie's story, could listen to "Like A Rolling Stone", and not think that song is about her (IMO). "Just Like A Woman" and "Leopard-Skin Pill Box Hat" are also suppose to be about Edie.

I know! Like A Rolling Stone has to be about Edie, there are just too many similarities. Edie did meet both Bob's in 1964 before she met Andy.

I heard "she's your lover now" is also about her. Maybe about her and Neuwirth.

yeah especially like a rolling stone i don't know much about there relationship but it reminded me of edie alot maybe he just observed her and wrote it who knows?

"Like a Rolling Stone" was apparently a twenty page story that Dylan had written previous to ever meeting Edie. It is more likely self-referential, as Mark Marqusee said; "The song only attains full poignancy when one realises it is sung, at least in part, to the singer himself: he's the one 'with no direction home.'"

Certainly that could all be a giant fib and the song could be about Edie Sedgwick, yet I think the former is much more plausible, in my opinion.

Was it written before '64? Because that's when they first met but they wouldn't have "dated" till later. So he could have written it after he met her. Some of the lyrics have to be about her though, like the Siamese cat part, Andy had a Siamese cat.

She's Your Lover Now could be about her, too. I never thought about it.
