i haven't seen that photo before, but it looks like the same thing she's wearing in that picture montage of her with the glass and cigarette, which i absolutely adore. what kind of website is that? i wish there were pictures of her with bob dylan. the pairing is too fabulous to imagine

I have always heard "just like a woman" and "like a rolling stone" were thought to be about Edie, but never "lay lady lay".
Where did you hear this?
I am curious because that is my fave Dylan song.

shame on me i didn't know who edie was before i came on this thread . I've passed throught it a few times and edie is so beautiful.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edie_Sedgwick Here's where it says she inspired Lay Lady Lay. That's the only place I've ever read it. As far as Edie & Bob Dylan really being 'together', who knows? He ain't talkin and he's very private so I guess only he & Edie will really ever know what happened between them. I think he loved Edie from afar and she saw him as a ticket to more mainstream films. In the 'Edie' bio, it says she thought her and Bob were together but then Andy told her he had secretly been married so, it all sounds really weird to me. She did go out with his best friend, Bob Neuwirth for a period of time. At least she was cool enough to have songs written about her! Some more Edie inspired songs are:
