NOT EXACTLY AMUSED OVER EDIE

February 10, 2006 -- ANDY Warhol muse Edie Sedgwick's only living brother, Jonathan, is mad that an actress named Misha Sedgwick continues to traipse about town claiming to be the niece of the fallen "Factory Girl" - which would make him her father. Making matters worse, Misha Sedgwick's name was connected to the Peter Braunstein affair: She played Edie (who died of a drug overdose in 1971) in the fake firefighter's bomb of a 2004 play, "Andy and Edie." Not that Jonathan Sedgwick is exactly defending his late sister. In an e-mail to PAGE SIX "to make it quite clear that Misha is not Edie's niece," he goes on: "I cannot understand this Edie phenomenon in the first place. She was a very sick, drug-addicted girl, and not worthy of anything but that! The 'Edie' persona, in truth, is more of a fiction than a reality - Edie was a manipulator and a liar, who happened to have a certain amount of charisma and beauty." Misha has no doubt resurfaced due to a rekindled fashion interest in Edie and the upcoming film "Factory Girl," starring Sienna Miller. Misha could not be reached for comment.

Offended? No, not at all! I respect and understand what you'r saying. You see what I meant by my theory was the same thing you mean, except I'm a little more bitchy and whiny. It's hard for me to get offended and yet I'm very defensive, isn't that ironic? But I respect what you're saying that whole robot comment was very clear to me. I meant that we're all slaves to society (And I quote my favorite song while I'm doing it) society is the big machine of which we're all slaves to. I hate this downward transition that society is spiraling into. This is why that whole copycat thing gets me angry. I hope I didn't offend you though, have I?

oh, god no! i was not offended one bit. its just sometimes hard to tell if someone on here is mocking you or what.....so thats all....:flower: here have a purple flower

looks like the movie might not see the light of day:

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has sued producer Holly Wiersma and the production company behind "Factory Girl" for $6 million in a dispute over the North American distribution rights to the Edie Sedgwick biopic.

Sony's case, filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, also seeks a court order declaring that it owns those rights according to an agreement allegedly reached in October.

At last month's Sundance Film Festival, the Weinstein Co. said that it had acquired all rights to the film in North America, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

The film stars Sienna Miller as Sedgwick, an ill-fated 1960s "superstar" who was part of Andy Warhol's circle.

The lawsuit claims Wiersma submitted the script to Sony in July and had an agent follow up with the company in September. With the film unable to complete financing, Sony said it offered to buy the North American distribution rights -- something Wiersma agreed to in writing, through her agents, after negotiations concluded in October.

"At no time did defendants inform (Sony) either that they believed that they did not have a binding agreement with (Sony) or that defendants were seeking to sell (Sony's) rights to any third party," the lawsuit states.

That is really sad that you have to say something like that. Everyone has problems. Some greater than others. Most celebrities today DO have bipolar or some form of depression... infact most artists, writers, scientists.... most people you have heard of HAVE had it. including audrey hepburn. if you have something bad to say then please go somewhere else. ^_^

I wouldn't say most do. Actually only a few really suffer from depression or bipolar disease. Stress, yes but depression is a whole other thing.

Your right most do not have it. However it is not as uncommon as you think. Take a look at that list and you will see where I am coming from. :-)

But no I do not mean stress haha.

But back with the topic of Edie...

i must agree, all of this unneccessary technology crap is ruining the most simple experiences in life. a while ago i was reading in the papers that it might even lead to the eventual demise of the movie-going experience altogether because of it. that would be a personal hit in the gut for me.

but anyway, if you think about it, only a few mavericks like Edie have been truly original in the past. ever since... forever, the masses have taken part in trends. i mean, it's human nature to want to be socially accepted, and usually the only reason something "new" came out was because there was some sort of social revolution or anti-establishment movement... which is what we're lacking. but i agree, i direly hope for change. everything's been so overdone!

those photos are fantastic. thanks!

We need a revolution, i'm sure one will happen soon with everything that's going on right now. But, you can't plan these kinds of things, they just happen.

First of all, its WARHOL. Secondly, its very sad when you have to go and insult the dead like that. Edie wore more than stripes(obviously you are ignorant of this topic), and started many fashion trends, without even meaning to do so! She had mental illness in a time when medication was not available. Her story is sad, but her spirit and beauty is inspiring.

why can't i say anything negative about the dead? i don't think they'll care. All I was meaning to say with that outburst is that sometimes we glorify certain people for wrong reasons. I didn't know edie and I can't say she was a bad person. But I also can't see anything outstanding about her. Yes, she was a bit quirky for her time, she had an interesting background. But she didn't do anything revolutionary style-vise, she was a very average actress (and please don't call me ignorant, I saw two of her movie and read her biography), and sadly a drug-addict. She was abused by many people and she failed her young life. That's very sad. She is a nice tragic heroine. But people with extraordinary spirits don't end up like that - they pull through, they leave some valuable trace. Edie left some black and white photographs and a handful of mediocre films. I'm sorry cause I clearly offended someone here but there is no reason to directly insult me here. :argg:

I'm not sure if anyone has posted anything similar, but I made some screencaps of 'The Ciao Manhattan Tapes' video from girlonfire.com

The fluffer had a valid point. It is easy to sympathise with celebrities who are addicts and forget to give blame where it is due. Plus as far as style goes, there are a million, billion people who have had outstanding style in the history of the world. I think Fluffer overlooked the beauty of simplicity but again I understand his point.

God, hearing her voice in the Ciao Manhattan tapes makes me so sad. So out of it. Was it true that Andy Warhol...ahem...drugged and raped her?

Here is the video

Thanks for the video.:flower:

I don't know about Edie being raped, but I don't think anyone ever had to force the girl to take a drug.:innocent:

Wasn't Andy gay? Or not sexual with anyone at all?
