The final is not until February 10, but the whole thing starts this week. The girls are already in Marrakech, I think.

Holland's got a big shot at winning yet again with a girl like Dimphy..she's amazing.

Dimpy looks great for a win thus far. Though the Baltic States are looking fairly strong. Especially if their girls get that pagaent make up off of them, and start looking more like models!

SLOVAKIA - Mirka Michlikova (i bet she will be at least among first 15)

CZECH REPUBLIC - Denisa Dvorakova (well this one i see as a winner or one of the runner ups)

elite

Denisa is in this? She's already quite the star! Odd...

^ I think Denisa was discovered when she entered Czech EML, she has not been modeling long at all. But then she had all this success past season. And she can't be going to EML now, she's already with 1 mgmt in NY.

I guess Czech Republic will send one or two runner-ups instead? Do you know who came second at national final, John Black?

If she is not there what would be the reason of her absence at NY fashion week??? She started modeling in april or may 2006 when she entered the EML casting. People at elite Prague are really great agents when you take into account what they did with her in such a short period of time. We will see if she is going to be at the International finale or not.
Anyway here are czech runner ups - maybe you are right it might be one them.... will see
VIKTORIA KALISKA

EVA BURIAKOVA

^Thanks, John! Yes, I noticed she doesn't have a showcard... But I don't think you can compete in EML if you are already under contract with other NY agency. That would be strange.. and she already has what they are competing for anyway. But I don't know, we'll find out soon. :)

Yeah i know i was thinking about the same but in fact she does modeling for less time than some other girls in that compettition - she was just lucky and good enough to make it big so sooner. But i admitt it would make more sence to send one of the runner ups overthere. She really doesnt need it.
But on the other hand with this logic it wont make much sence to do the national (czech) finale as well since she was on the same level but she did and actually won (maybe she was not signed with One in NY yet but i am pretty sure it was just a question of timing).
I am very currious how does it end up however she is a winner for me already whether she will compete or no.

I'm curious as well...but either way she'll be big. She's better of at NYM than at Elite anyway I think :innocent:

Morven is hoping for the best in February's world finals

An Aberdeenshire schoolgirl is heading to the world finals of a modelling competition - thanks to an entry form picked up in a shopping centre.

Morven MacSween, 14, of Newmachar, is off to Marrakech, Morocco, after previously winning the UK final.

Her mother had picked up an entry form for the Superdrug and Elite Model Look Contest and now Morven hopes to land the top prize of a modelling contract.

The Dyce Academy pupil said: "I have my fingers crossed for the finals."
Morven's brother had seen details of the competition in a local paper and her mother Judith decided to get an entry form for the schoolgirl while in Aberdeen's Bon Accord St Nicholas Shopping Centre.

Morven MacSween

Mrs MacSween said: "I know that modelling has been a lifelong ambition for Morven and thought why not give it a go?

"I filled in the form and sent it away with some pictures and thought nothing more about it, it was just a bit of fun and we did not expect to hear any more.

"We were so proud when she was short listed for the finals in London and over the moon when she actually won."

'Nerve-wracking'
Morven beat off stiff competition from the 15 other finalists to win the UK round.

Morven said: "I have never taken part in any professional modelling before so the UK finals were nerve-wracking.

"It has been my ambition to be a model and travel the world so I'll get my first taste in Morocco.

"I love the hair, make-up, fashion and buzz of it all but I want to finish school first. I have my fingers crossed for the finals but I am already proud of what I have achieved so anything else will be a bonus."

Morven jets off to Morocco on Thursday for the world finals which take place over several days against dozens of other competitors.

Sweden are sending two girls.

Oh my...these girls! They're all younger than me...and A LOT taller! :P Thanks for the photos.

Malin Ljungberg has great potential as a model. From the two Spanish girls, the second one worked in the last NY Fashion Week. The picture posted doesn't do her justice (although I know you probably didn't find anything better).

Switzerland

I don't like the girl who won, but 2nd place Ronja looks more promising, I hope they send her too. She's already placed with Elite Paris, so I guess we'll see more of her in any case.

Alix Marfurt, 18

Ronja Furrer, 15
