Givenchy Haute Couture S/S 2010 Paris

Natalia's dress was Über stunning too. Didn't like her in that make up though. But the gown... ugh.. too beautiful for words.

i don't understand people complaining about it not being about hubert and audrey, time moves on, for the better IMHO, he's constantly trying new things unlike others *cough*Galliano*cough*
gosh these designers can't win either way

Well, it's possible to balance the heritage and the modern take on. Givenchy nowadays is mostly about Tisci. Anyway, I love the strong make-up, still trying to warm up the final part.

First impression: I HATE this. It's just so vulgar, and not in a good way. Something about this all screams "attention grabbing celebrity". And I'm honestly shocked by how many people are swooning over this considering that it doesn't look like a collection designed by Riccardo Tisci at all.

I'll give it time to process, but I don't see myself growing to love this.

I don't like it as much as last season which was much more understated. I do however like the textures in the fabrics, although they seem a bit heavy for S/S wear just from looking at the pics?...the dresses on Kamila and Rose are beautiful IMO but some of the shorter pieces like the one on Anna don't work for me.

I liked most all of it. natalia's dress is easily the best one but the rest are just as amazing. the colors the details. love it!!

The embroidery is extremely immensely CRAZY!!!!! How long did it take to make just one outfit.... thats really worth for waiting and money!! Couture is COUTURE!

Some pieces are great but some really not. And not sure about the make-up...

i still can't make up my mind about this collection. some of the pieces are
simply exquisite, the ruffles and the embroidered detailing are just crazy.
however, most of the pieces are indeed flashy and i wouldn't be surprised to
see some of it gobbled up by attention hungry celebrities on the redcarpet.
i'm even willing to bet on that lampshade headgear contraption finding its
way unto Lady Gaga's head

This seems like a collection of all the leftover pieces form Givenchy's few recent collections after the Balmain designer had a chance to make some changes. Or something.

I dont like it... it doesnt have that dark kinda gothic-ish look. Thats what I loved about the past collections Ricardo did. I mean. where are the studs?!? The golden, the black, the amazing gowns????

I don't know, but the sequinned pieces look like the infamous Balmain FW08/SS09 collections...Which brings us back to attention-seeking celebrity.

that's IT?
it's pretty busy, really dramatic...but the quality and simplicity, those trademarks of Ricardo, sure are missing.

I was browsing trough his pasts haute couture collections and this is totaly Tisci for Givenchy.

you might be on point here:

Photogs booed Ciara as she walked in noticeably late to the Givenchy Haute Couture show
I don't get why Tisci chose her to be his muse. She's OK, but so many (worthier) women would love to be his muse!

On topic, it seems nice, but that purple dress reminds me fo Versace and I don't want to be reminded of Versace. Oh and the ruffles...instantly reminded of Valentino SS 10. But Lanvin started the whole ruffle craze, anyway.
