Givenchy S/S 2012 : Gisele, Mariacarla, Chris & Simone by Mert and Marcus

These pictures are so boring. MCB looks pale and corpsy, though not as dead looking as the YSL ads, and Gisele's like just there, but not doing anything. All so lack luster and dull. I don't like the guys either. They're just as dull.

i guess we are all so use to see ads so contrast and sexy and glamourous
this one is different and cool

LOVE IT actually

I agree except for the part about the guys, I think that the guys, Chris in particular, are the best humans in the campaign. Overall I think that the best parts of the campaign are the staging, the atmospherics and kinda-sorta the clothes.

:rofl: Oh Mylanta, what a high-larious but true comment!

i wonder it people's hatred for Gisele (totally unfounded imo, people just hate 'sexy' girls here) makes them blind to the fact that her pictures look worlds more natural than the ones with MCB, which look absolutely amateur.

Well she doesn't look sexy here. She's like a lifeless mannequin. I know everyone adores her, but sometimes she's a bit too overrated.

Couldn't agree more with you!
Except i do like they guy's and i also like the theme. Cou;d have been much better if Gisele and MCB were really working it.

One of Paris' most respected couture houses transforms into a hip hop label, it seems. The pictures are beautiful but the models look lazy and sleepy.

^ This is what I've been inclining towards too. Lord how much I admire Mariacarla, but the intended mood here is obviously one of a dark nonchalance, which Gisele captures really well. Mariacarla looks a little too tense and attentive. She's still one of the best models in history though.

yeah

i don't know why people don't get that

what are they expecting? what WERE they expecting?

Well it's actually a mild change when compared to what has happened Balmain.

i haven't read all pages, but is Panos still the stylist at Givenchy ???
this sounds and smells and looks very Riccardo+Panos. and that little model looks very much like Panos Y.
Surprised there ain't Steven Klein. but i appreciate the "down", "calm" though "gloomy" atmosphere m&m manage to get.

EXCELLENT, at least VERY professional art direction!

the menswear collection is not my cup of tea. to be sincere. barely pay attention to it, that's very 2010s JPG and always "monochrome". but the styling seems to work pretty well, in my eyes, here. the fact i see mcb wearing white mens clothes and boys wearing skirts and caps, make it right for me!!! very good shot that one!

i like the models' attitude, art direction, on location group shot, everything. not saying its perfection, but that's a great one, and a great givenchy campain!!!

for me it's the best campaign of the season so far and SO much better than the contrived photoshop mess of last season:ermm:
it's true that Gisele looks bland but i think that's the only way she'd fit Givenchy and she does look perfect with the mood of the pictures.. actually my favorite is the one with the green outfits,
Mariacarla looks great too but her pics could've been better without the male models, they're distracting and it looks overcrowded,
actually i think if they'd remove the boys from all the pictures and put them in their own shots, it would all instantly look even better..

can't wait for HQs!^_^

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww this is actually awesome! i really like the colours, the styling, the set,the models, and the feeling that i get from looking at it.I find these photos insanely beautiful,I feel like i should print them out and hang them on my wall and stare at them for HOURS! well done!

I hate this campaign, I just don't get it. Thanks MariaCarla is here to make this less horrible.

I totally agree.

Why Gisele? I don't see how she suits Givenchy at all. And MCB looks amazing, but male models with her ruined her shots. Their styling was so bad and those ridiculous shoes ruined all MCB shots. MCB should have her own shots. I love the theme , mood, beach etc...but something is off which makes me dislike this campaign.

Tisci believes that Gisele suits the current Givenchy's aesthetics

he's the creative director of Givenchy

nuff said

and Gisele's shots are still superior. it might not be because of her being there but the surroundings and lighting. but they are. deal with it.

Riccardo cast her for his show, had her close it and she was pretty much the star of the whole show and created a ton of press for the brand...How is "why Gisele" even a question? :D Don't worry I'm sure she's not gonna become "The Givenchy girl". She doesn't just belong to one brand.

I don't see any problem with Gisele being here. Givenchy girl or not, she certainly can be one, given her shots look brilliant (and dare I say that, better than MCB's, actually).

Do not understand the fascination with Mariacarla, Gisele's outshining her here.

^Riccardo and Mariacarla are best friends for one, but also she pretty much summarizes Riccardo's aesthetic, its kind of like Marc Jacobs and Kate Moss' relationship.

I'm not Gisele's biggest fan but her shots are definitely better than the ones of Mariacarla posted, but there are bound to be more shots so i don't think everyone should jump on the Gisele bandwagon just yet.

And i have to disagree with whom ever said Gisele made the show, personally speaking, i felt her walk was too bouncy and i wouldn't necessarily say Gisele was a Givenchy woman.

But on a whole i think this is my Campaign of the season, as of yet.

I actually think Gisele could be a Givenchy girl. Riccardo likes to turn conventionally beautiful latin women (Gisele, Joan, Allesandra, Izabel) into Givenchy girls. The problem is the photography, which for me is a big upset coming from M&M. This is the second season at Givenchy where they have dropped the ball, imo. I would have loved for this to have been much darker, but instead we are left with a great cast who looks they are snapping bad pictures from a long road trip. I just don't get it. M&M are great photographers, and Givenchy is probably the brand that they can be most creative & experimental with, and this is what they come up with?!?
