Gucci S/S 09 Milan

yeah im not saying tom ford should come back to gucci but this collection is rock bottom. I read that in a news article just now that the skinny pant suits can be in at H&M months before this collection hits the floors lol

but she has seriously lost it , who puts cotton cargo shorts on a milan runway LOL , I hope Versace is the saving grace which it usually is.

I don't think Gucci needs Tom Ford but they need someone who understands what Gucci is. Gucci is supposed to be about luxury and until Frida understands that Gucci's numbers will continue to suffer. There is nothing luxurious about this collection. The fabrics, the cuts, trimming, details, NOTHING. H&M, Top Shop and Forever 21 could probably knock this off by the end of the week and have it out on the floor and windows by next week.

This is all that I keep saying. Gucci is supposed to be the epitome of Italian luxury and they need someone capable to do this. Not Michael Kors luxury, but a true understanding of it. In my mind I would like to think Hedi Slimane and Gucci would work so beautifully. Or maybe Marios Schwab would be interesting. I cannot think of any other designers capable of handling Gucci at the moment.

^^I think Slimane would be interesting. I think he could work wonders with Gucci...he would make it darker, slicker, more luxurious...I think he'd be great.

I think Proenza Schouler would do a good job but its just a guess but they are much better than Frida any day

A few things i like i HATE HATE HATE the bookbag!!!!!!!! what the heck is that!?!?!

i like some of the prints but over all its just tacky this season.

Im the opposite to most of you guys. to me it doesn't matter who designed it. The fact that its 'GUCCI' i just love everything about it.

Me too ^ ^_^

I think a lot of it is pretty cute (aside from the final photo up there, I hate the bracelet)

The fact that it's Gucci SHOULDN'T be the reason you love everything about it. That's exactly the problem with the 'success' of designers like Frida: Mindless devotion to a label regardless of quality. That's the type of comment someone shopping in Chinatown would make.

You could slap Gucci logos on Forever 21, and it would be more luxurious.

Exactly! Is this type of attitude that "compels" so many to buy as they want to buy into a brand just for the name regardless of the fact if it is stellar, average, or just plain terrible. This is what caused problem with Dior - so many wanted the Dior name and it was made accessible to all resulting in backlash. And now for the past seasons, Dior has been trying to "reclaim" its name from the ditches. This is the direction Gucci is headed now and I can tell you it will definitely have a harder time than Dior trying to reclaim its name for the simple fact that Dior has a genius designer/creator and Gucci is stuck with a streestyle trendsetter. Just wait for the wind to blow in another direction. :innocent:
