THOSE ARE THE GOWNS?

They only thing I like in this collection is the olive shirtdress on Angela Lindvall. Everything else can easily be placed on a DVF or Michael Kors runway. I really cannot bring myself to believe that Julia Stegner's blue chiffon atrocity is going to bear a Gucci tag and hang in those remaining, beautiful TF-designed stores throughout the world.

And it doesn't say much when your ''designer'' takes her congratulatory walk in a tube top and designer-cargo pants ala J.Lo 2003.

To tell the truth, I really like this collection. It's simple but it's chic and there is a beach and at the same time a city vibe.
I loved the make-up and the choice of colors. For me, the pieces are great. I was expecting this from Frida. Tom Ford is actually more glamorous and chic...
You may think that these pieces look cheap but one thing I'm sure: at the stores it won't be cheap

I really, really love it. I don´t care if it´s the same what we have seen before. This is a strong and powerful collection with beautiful dresses, great accessories, wearable and very stylish and chic.
Love it especially the dresses at the end. Very stunning.

The gowns are awful  Only one that looks half-good for me is the one on Kasia

It's a sad, sad day when the merchandise in Zara not only looks the same, but more appealing than Gucci. This is worse than usual, on the same level as Just Cavalli as far as I'm concerned. If it was a one time thing I'd be happy to think that it's just harsh financial times she's working in, but given that the quality of work has been slipping since she started 3 years ago.....well, you can't blame the economy, can you.

I mean, this is Just Cavalli. Splashy printed chiffon caftans, tropical motifs, bright clubby colors, not much actual design involved....It's just a hell of a lot more expensive.

And some of those evening gowns look like a sad audition for the Halston job.

That would not be a bad place for her to go actually..... -_-

Yes it would!

Seriously, her dresses are always the same. She draws four lines and fills them with a color, or a print. Then she adds a little decoration of some sort at the shoulder or the bust or the waist. It's ALWAYS the same. Tom used to really work those dresses until they were about to fall of at the tug of a string. These are just sheets with holes.

How is this woman still working?I donot get it, faar more talented and deserving designers have been replaced after a season of disapproving collections, do her designs truly sell?

Hm, well I like the shoes a lot. They're hot and my eyes went straight to most of them in every look which isn't necessarily a good thing. Some of the trouser and jacket looks were nicely done but I wasn't a fan of her use of tacky patterns in certain pairs of pants, like the pair Lily wore for instance.

Yes exactly! I want to compare the "gown" on Mariacarla to the two dresses at the end of SS 2002. Same ideas basically, but the version of Tom was much more worth the money and quite luxurious.

The finishes were flawless.

Totally agree, Sal.

You know, it's frustrating that people often give Tom a hard time for being more of a stylist than a designer....well Frida is FAAAAAAAR worse, if you can't already tell with this collection.

I don't get why so many designers are influenced by MGMT. I mean, they are a faux-hippe revival act. I guess that is what Frida channels, too, but I see no evidence of MGMT's imprint here. Although, I'm not sure what that would even entail...

This looks pretty bleak. And I actually loved the Fall 2008 collection a lot (it's the core inspiration for my "ruritania mania" epithet in my signature.
