Gucci S/S 2009 : Abbey Lee, Lily, Natasha by Inez & Vinoodh

Natasha is the strongest to me, blatantly. Lily next and Abbey just looks like she wants to be the star but she just, like others have said, is stuck in last seasons campaign.

What a disappointment. The models look really distorted and the whole thing is just a mess. Natasha looks nice (she should've just refused to do the ads with those other two), but Lily and Abbey look like two trolls trying to get into the shot.

the left half of the shot is good, but the right half is such a mess! at least the mediocrity of the clothing seems to be disguised (was not a fan of this season at all!)

the S/S 04 ads used palmtrees as backgrounds. not excatly a jungle, but hey, it works. it felt vibrant, sexy, luxurious, i could feel the lingering heat and the occasional breeze.

S/S 09? Natasha and that prebubescent boy take a walk in woods and Lily & that other girl got strokes. the eye makeup is another one of those instances where i can't help but wonder "WTF was Frida smoking???". not that i don't question her taste in anything else but accessories any time i look at something from the current Gucci seasons.

The shot of Natasha in the purple tunic would have been pretty cool if the right-half of the ad were left wide, leaving the foliage in the shot.

Otherwise, I hate the khaki-clad shot, it IS very catalogue and dare I say unattractive in the worst way possible for a luxury company.

The idea is just a sad rip-off of the TF ads which were much more interesting because they were infused with an erotic subtext that Frida seems to avoid at all costs.

Natasha looks great in that one, Abbey and Lily look strange..but the guys look handsome. overall, i'm not feelin it.

Why does Abbey always looks like she's trying too hard and miscast in Gucci ads? My eyes went straight to Natasha once again and then Lily next even though she has the most 'space'. Seems like they tried to make Lily the epicenter of the group but it didn't quite work out.

You know, those might not be the best abbey looked. But I'm not complaining yet, since I still can't get over my sympathy for her...

I like this campaign but no matter how talented Inez&Vinoodh are or how beautiful the models are - they can't disguise the hideousness of the collection.

It's tacky and cheap no matter which way you look at it.

I'm just going to hope that next season Gucci will redeem itself.
