Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows *Warning - Thread WILL Contain Spoilers*

OH MY GOD, IT WAS AMAZING. NOBODY CAN ARGUE WITH THAT. SERIOUSLY, THE LAST THING I NEED IS A DAMPENING IN MY HARRY POTTER SPIRITS RIGHT NOW!!!!

okay, yes, I sound hysterical, but honestly...I cried a lot!!

I cried too...

Not so much at the deaths, but at Harry's bravery at the end & even at the dedication at the beginning to those of us who have stayed with Harry to the very end... I'm a sap for stuff like that.

Okay. I spent last night reading an online version of Chapters 1 - 10 (which got me about 3 hours of sleep), I shall spend the rest of the day reading, come back and commence discussion

sooooo viiiiile.
that epilogue was HEINOUS.

i can't believe that she had a GEM of a character such as snape, and she went thirteen year old fan girl on us and based his entire 17 past years on a crush. unrequited love.... and then kills him off.such a veer from the origin of the character.

also, i am adequately embarassed about my user name currently.

i didn't think it was good. in fact... i'm rather upset.
except for fred and george. "saint-like. in fact... holy. holey, geddit?'

LOL.

^So are you telling me that the leaked epilogue is real? The one with the really awful writing and fairy tale ending and cheesy kids' names?

Omg, I tried reading the first book and I think I'm hooked  Bad timing!

^So are you telling me that the leaked epilogue is real? The one with the really awful writing and fairy tale ending and cheesy kids' names?

YES.

I was hoping that would be a fake but when I got the book, I flipped to the end and it WAS/is the real ending.

ALBUS SERVERUS MY A**. What kind of godforsaken name is that?

^ I know, I actually ruined the whole book for my sister which is so mean of me but I thought it was not true. My sister went in the rain to get her book.

don't worry. the book itself will ruin the book...

i decided after i finished that, for the betterment of the series, and out of respect for the characters, it was best to just rip out the whole epilogue. afterwards, i thought to myself i will have breakfast after all and not need to vomit up the overdose of saccharine sickness.

sorry for the bitterness. but after ten years and poor test results stemming from anxiety for poor harry, i expected something much better. i mean, i get that jk isn't aeschylus (best shout out ever, by the way) but she didn't even invoke the deus ex machina to get her out of those terrible plot round ups. i mean, she just got lazy.

i am so so so sad

oh, and about albus severus...
there are some SWEET new shippers out there for AS/S
(albus severus and scorpius-- which is the best name ever, and the only evidence that jk retained some semblence of character in this book)

the acronym is ***

brilliant.

(but did anyone else get wholly creeped out and confused with harry's new lily and james? i bet you that was ginny's idea because she's lame like that, and harry is off having heinous post traumatic stress disorder.)

so does anybody of the main characters die in this final book?
does voldemort die?

^Yes

So let's make a list of who dies:

Fred
Tonks
Lupin
Voldemort
Crabbe
Hedwig
Snape
Moody

Who else am I missing?

^ ilaughead your missing Dobby on your list :flower:

I LOVED IT.
finished it about 45 mins ago.

however im going to have to read it again to understand it all! dumbledore wasn't that likeable and lupin died! the only bad points i could think of.

i loved that snape was good and had been in love with lily. although the final destruction of the horcruxes went quickly it was amazing how it all worked out. :) it was a very intense read.

^I'm confused with whether I should like Dumbledore or not. I mean, I guess he made the right decision, but the way he went about doing it wasn't what I expected from him.

And didn't Colin Creevy die?

It was a decent book but i cannot help but feel that it was just not on par with the rest.It had so many stupid side plots and it just didn't seem like JK's usual style.Don't get me wrong i mean there was moments of sheer brilliance( first chapter for example)but then at times i was like WTF? As for Snape, the most complex character next to Harry And DD, i felt like is whole story was rushed. Now as for DD by far my favorite character and he still is.She made DD more human and to me and his back story was the highlight of the book. However, i felt that the whole book was pretty random.I mean the deathly hallows thing came out of nowhere and the forest roaming thing for like half the book was absolutely pointless. And where the hell was Ginny in this book? How about Lupins strange erratic behavior and his and Tonks random death?? i could go on and on but i'm to tired right now to go into anything else.

Oh and dont get me started on that epilogue:blink:

his and tonks death was RANDOM! and i was intrigued to know who was bringing up teddy.

i wasnt sure whether to like dumbledore in parts, he was the dumbledore of 1-6 in the scene at kings cross but he was so callous in snapes flashbacks :/. it really confused me.

yes colin creevey did die, not much was said about it though.as ddi ted tonks, the other man and goblin that were with him.

ron going away was one of the most random parts of the book and lupins behaviour was because he freaked out when tonks got pregnant.

I'm at the place where Luna's father betrays them to get his daughter back. It's quite touching....you know, even though he sold them to the deatheaters.

It's gotten me all teary

.

I thought that behaviour was strange and a bit out of character but I guess Lupin was always self-conscious of his 'illness'

I pretty much knew the death list before I cracked the book open but it's still a bit heart-breaking to read through them. Hedwig's death could have been a bit more glorified for a bird that followed him for 7 years

This is the 3rd time I've posted straight on  but my brother got the book, flipped to the end, yelled 'HA ***. THE LEAK WAS REAL' Basically, I've lost about 50 bucks to him because I thought JK had more nerve than she did and might actually bite the bullet and kill off Harry.

I still believe that if she had done so, the series as a whole would earn a bit more respect.(not that it already doesn't but...well, I hope you know what I mean  )
