His tenure was so iconic, honestly. When you look at the big picture and how he took this semi-irrelevant brand and completely tuned on its head, made it the most relevant and influential brand in the business is pretty incredible. He set the blueprint for brand revamping from now on. Gonna miss his work there, the great clothes, the brilliant marketing... and the hate lol.
For him now is either Dior, Chanel, or he got funding for his own brand. Like i've said before, Chanel would be amazing. Now only I because i'm counting the days for Karl to hang his glasses and gloves, but the brand desperately needs a strong new direction and he's the guy for it. But even if he'll do it, I don't think it will happen anytime soon. They'll probably be grooming him for another year or so and will try to make the transition as smooth as possible and give Karl the time to have a big farewell.

It most definitely wasn't a semi-irrelevant house [redacted]. There was most definitely a cult following especially when the house was under Stefano, but he had real integrity to what he was putting out there, he had a real vision for the brand and woman he was dressing you cannot deny that.
His campaigns had real depth to them too with the manifesto he released each season that, if you remember correctly, were much sought after and went for a high price on Ebay.
I completely disagree with those statements entirely. There is still a large proportion of sales that rest entirely on what Stefano created in the accessories division that still outsold pieces Hedi created.
The reason the brand was more successful than before was that their wholesale doors expanded (which is what a brand like Lanvin and Victoria Beckham relies on for their income) so their revenues went up naturally.
And for him going to Chanel - that would be a death warrant for the brand. People put down Hedi's collections each season but wish for him to go to one of the biggest houses in fashion and ruin that too? Please somebody fund his own house because I already hate what he would do with the couture at Chanel. It may be veering towards older and more refined but Karl has his client down to a T, not just any Tom, Dick or Harry can buy Couture so the only complaints a house is going to listen to about the avenue their collections are going in are going to be from the people buying them.
Why have Karl hang up his glasses? The man isn't doing a bad job and he's the only Couturier from that age left in the business. What I would give for Mr Valentino to return.
I think Vaccarello is going to do a marvellous job at Saint Laurent, he has a much more accessible image and approachability, Hedi was very pompous and almost on a level of his own elitism that it was his way or the highway, I'm sorry but he isn't Tom Ford, he was only a Creative Director, Tom was much higher than him.
