How will you dress when you're older?

I still like my platforms but am starting to wear more flats than I ever have, its a challenge finding flatter shoes that still express "me" but boots with a low heel are really appealing to me more and more.

edit this...since I found the perfect ysl platform ankle boots this season. platforms are my saving grace.

age appropriate for me:
a bra that fits and smooths
looser tops to hide the belly
mid waist pants
skirts near the knee

Id wear a lot of white and a lot of my family diamonds.
I would wear more heels too.
Large rings.

Minimal make up.

I think I would dress pretty much the same as I do now. Perhaps focus more on lipstick rather than eyeshadow and nothing really shorter than knee length, but I still think I'd be the same.

I have no idea. I only wish I can afford enough Dries as his clothes are for all ages and timelessly beautiful . I don't want to be too timeless or 'classic' as we know it, though.. just like we can tell the 60 year-olds of today were raised in the 40s and 50s, I hope that my approach to fashion remains intact and slightly representative of my life when I'm around that age.

.. also hope I can afford a driver by then.. just so things can get less practical. :ninja:

Just simple.Skinny dark jeans, wool fisherman jackets, plain colored t shirts and some occasional band tees.I would love to be able to find some nice black ankle boots too.

I have no idea how I'll dress when I get older, but I can be certain that it'll be a gradual evolution and not some drastic. "OK. I'm 45. Let's buy a whole new wardrobe!" sort of thing. I like to build on what I own, but incorporate a few new ideas each season. I don't see that changing, but it's impossible to say where I, or fashion will be in a decade or two.

Based on my current likes, I anticipate a lot of knits with interesting cuts/fabrics, relatively one of a kind outerwear, a muted color palate and lots of items with subtly interesting details. But what those details will be, or who will be making them is anyone's guess.

I don't actively follow industry wide trends today, but I do like following specific designers as they blaze their trails, so I expect that my middle aged/elderly wardrobe will be limited to a select few design oriented lines that speak to me. Interesting fabrics and construction will remain as important then as they are now.

lots of rings and earrings. which i dont wear at all now. not even watches so much. i'll be in all of my mother's jewelry including her collection of estate and diamond watches (i really starting to dig gold and jade now that i'm into my 30s)
i guess no more tube tops. though i'm so thin it probably won't make a difference.

I hope old hollywood meets Carine Roitfeld with a quirky touch hehe.
but I'll see.. I'm still really young so it probably will change :P

I've always liked the way Brooke Astor and Nan Kempner dress, also my mom dresses absolutely impeccably so she is definitely someone I'd like to emulate.

mutton dressed as lamb springs to mind haha i can see my self being a trend wh*re who dresses waayyy to young for her age.. kinda crazy and quirky.. rather then being the crazy cat woman.. ill be the crazy shoes/bag woman with a house full of the things hahha i can just see it now

i honestly have no idea.

i dress according to what i feel today. i may not even be alive tomorrow.

My mum dresses gorgeously, mostly in monsoon from the uk and nina ricci.
i'd hope to be sophisticated, in more muted tons, black and creams but with splashes of colour. Very classic and classy!

I think I'm going to dress kind of like Carine Roitfeld.. you know still have a fun style and not be boring and grey all the time.

Snowqueen - I already am the crazy cat woman! I am 'older' compared to a lot of tfs-ers and still a gothic rock chick, but don't think I'm that much 'mutton dressed as lamb'. When I retire, I want to be like Liz Smith - totally & utterly eccentric in every way!

Oh, I fantasize about this all the time!
I will wear lots of loose, drapey linen and cotton outfits. Tons of silver and turquoise jewelry. Long, full skirts. Gaucho hats.
Very excited about all this.

I'm guessing very very comfortable with my style...i will probably have gotten my own look by then! (HOPEFULLY!)
